1.The layers of the Earth.1.The layers of the Earth.
The Earth has got three main parts:
The atmosphere, the hydrophere and the
geosphere.
THE ATMOSPHERETHE ATMOSPHERE
• The atmosphere is a gaseous layer.
• The troposphere is closest to the Earth’s surface.It’s12km thick. We can observe meteorogical condition.
• The stratosphere is 50km thick, includes the ozone layer protects UV rays.
• The ionosphere is 400km high, reflects radio waves.
THE GEOSPHERETHE GEOSPHERE
• The geosphere is the solid part of the Earth.
• The crust it’s made of rock, includes continents, island and ocean floor.
• The mantle is under the crust, some rocks called magma.
• The core is the inner layer. It’s mostly made of iron.
THE HYDROSPHERETHE HYDROSPHERE
• The hydrosphere is the liquid part of the Earth.
• The liquid state is the oceans, seas, lakes and rivers.
• The solid state is the snow and ice.
• The gaseus state is water vapour.
2.MINERALS 2.MINERALS
• Minerals are solid bobies that from rocks.
• We can classify in three groups:
• Hardness: You cant’ scratch or break them easily.
• Lustre: Is metallic and reflec light.
• Colour: Some minerals have colour
3.ROCKS3.ROCKS
• Rocks consist of one or mare minerals.
• We can classify in three groups:
• Sedimentary: are composed of other rock
• Igneous: are formed from hot, like magma.
• Metamorphic: When rocks are very hot or when they are under lots of pressure.
4.ENERGY INSIDE THE 4.ENERGY INSIDE THE EARTH.EARTH.
• There is a lot of energy stored deep inside the Earth. This energy produces effects that we can observe on the Earth’s surface, like volcanes and earthquakes.

• There is a lot of energy stored deep inside the Earth. This energy produces effects that we can observe on the Earth’s surface, like volcanes and earthquakes.
5.GLOBES AND MAPS.5.GLOBES AND MAPS.
• Globes are three dimensional models of the Earth’s surface.
• Maps are two dimensional representatinon of the Earth’s surface.
MERIDIANSMERIDIANS
• Meridians are semicircular lines that go from the North Pole to the South Pole.
• These lines are nubered in degress.
• Meridian 0º is the Prime Meridian. It’s also called the Greenwhic Meridian
PARALLELSPARALLELS
• Parallels are circular lines that go around the Earth. These lines are numbered in degress.
• Parallels 0º is the Equator. It divides the Earth into two equal part-From east to west.
