En el grup de tetràpods moderns, aquests anells de creixement es troben tipicament enectoterms, on es creu que representen cicles estacionals....

Entre endoterms, per l’altre banda, aquests patrons son rars, per que les taxesmetabòliques relativament constantes asseguren el creixement a una taxa constanta
