“Il ruolo della mobilità internazionale ed intersettoriale nel
Programma Specifico PEOPLE”
Angelo D’Agostino Punto di Contatto Nazionale
PEOPLE & Scienza nella Società
[The 7th Framework Programme]
To strengthen, quantitatively and qualitatively,
the human potential in R&D in Europe:
• by stimulating people to take up the profession of a
researcher,
• encouraging European researchers to stay in Europe,
• attracting to Europe the best researchers from the
entire world
[PEOPLE: objective]
the overall strategic objective is to make Europe more attractive for researchers
[Marie Curie Actions]
[Marie Curie Actions] Mobility, both trans-national and intersectoral, is fundamental to this
programme.
The enhancement of industry-academia cooperation in terms of
research training, career development and knowledge sharing,
taking into account the protection of intellectual property rights, is
encouraged throughout.
The international dimension, as a fundamental component of
human resources in research and development in Europe, will be
addressed in terms of career development without
discrimination, as well as of strengthening and enriching
international cooperation through researchers and attracting
research talent to Europe.
[FP7 MCA Achievements] ~ 60 000 researchers financed since creation of MCAs
>10 000 PhD supported in FP7
Marie Curie researchers coming from all over the world (~ 130 nationalities)
Marie Curie host organisations in >80 countries
38% women participation in FP7 MCA (target: 40%)
Bridging academia-business gap: ~8 000 secondments/recruitments in ~750 projects
SMEs play a major role: in IAPP & ITN account for >50% of all businesses participating

[International dimension]
For experienced researchers! Of any nationality!
be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least four years of full-time equivalent
research experience
Mobility: at the time of the deadline for submission of proposals, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date
“bottom-up” approach
The project proposals are submitted by experienced researchers in liaison with a host organisation; the Grant Agreement signed between the host organisation (MS/AC) and the REA
[IxF: basic rules]
International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF)
Expected impact
Significant advances in such researchers' careers
Acquisition of complementary research competences at an advanced level
Reach a position of professional maturity
International collaborations
Objective
to reinforce the international dimension of the career of European researchers by giving them the opportunity to be trained and acquire new knowledge in a high-level organisation active in research, established in an other third country (outgoing phase)
to transfer acquired knowledge to Member States (MS) and Associated Countries (AC)
Expected impact
Significant advances in such researchers' careers
Acquisition of complementary research competences at an advanced level
Attain a leading INTERNATIONAL and independent position
International Incoming Fellowships (IIF)
Objective
to reinforce the research excellence of MS/AC through knowledge sharing with incoming top-class researchers active in an other third country working on research projects in Europe,
to develop mutually beneficial research co-operation between Europe and an other third country
to transfer knowledge through research cooperation
[Funding rates (IOF, IIF)]
• Salary contribution (experience) & Mobility allowance
(700/1000 € month)
• Contribution to Training and Research costs (800 € month)
• Overheads (max. 700 € month)
