INTRODUCTION• In early days we had only standalone computers. This

confined the user to a single environment and when two people want to exchange information, they had to carry physical data from place to place.• This gave a scope for programmers to make two computers

communicate with each other to form a network.• INTERNET: Collection of computer networks all over the world.

Thousands of computer are connected together through this network.• Information here is exchanged by telephone lines, fibre optic

cables , satellites etc.

• Every computer in this network is called a host.• Each host in the network can be identified uniquely by what is called IP(Internet

Protocol) address.• The IP address is mapped on to DNS which is represented as www.google.com ,

idea of DNS came because IP addresses are just numbers which can not be remembered by most of the people.• Web browsers are software's application that enables a user to display and

interact with there information typically located on web page at a website on the world wide web or local area network.

DISADVANTAGES OF E-MAIL

• The email service, though beneficial in our day-to-day life, has its own drawbacks that are off late coming to the fore.

• Disadvantages of E-mail:-• 1. Viruses: These are computer programs which have the potential to

harm a computer system. Viruses copy themselves and further infect the computer. Recipients need to scan the mails since viruses are transmitted through them and have the potential to harm computer systems.

• 2. Spam: People receive unwanted mails like advertisements etc. Checking and deleting them can consume a lot of time. So it is necessary to keep blocking their sources. Email spoofing is also used for creating spam. Change of mail addresses or headers happen.

accessing unauthorized data illegally.• Separate departments like cyber security police are

formed to stop hackers from doing their job, but they are unsuccessful sometimes.
