What are “Open-cell metal foam”?Open-cell metal foams are metals with interconnected-pore structures. Their unique architectures lead to varieties of their superior characteristics as compared to those of monolithic metals, including:

• Large surface area• Light weight per unit volume• High strength-to-weight ratio• Allowing fluids, gases, and light to pass through

These benefits enable metal foams to be used in variousapplications, such as thermal management, sound absorption, water and air treatment, and design applications.
