Malaysia is made of two main areas, the Peninsula and the Eastern Malaysia. From the rainfall and temperature chart (above), Malaysia is part of the Tropical rainforest belt around the world, but Malaysia is also very mountainous, which interrupts the rainfall and lowers the temperature, leading to different types of habitats. For instance Mount Kinabalu in Sabah is 4095m high and it is one of the most outstanding area of biodiversity in the world. With such environment, Malaysia is very rich in floral varieties. Surveys identified that there are 8,000 species of flowering plants in the country.
