Ninh Binh is on the Red River Delta, 96 kilometers from Ha Noi to

the South, with the total area of 1376.7 square kilometers and

915.900 people(2012). It was the ancient capital in 3 denasties: Dinh,

Tien Le and Ly in X century is a potential one of the most attractive

destinitions to visitors not only domestic but also foreign. Ninh Binh

has a wild and breath-taking sceneries of caves, rivers, temples and

pagodas with tropic monsoon climate,which makes visitors come here

Tràng An is a famous eco-tourism located in scenic population Trang An

of Ninh Binh province, with the total area of 2000ha. Trang An landscapes

are created by the raws of limestone mountains, the magic caves, the valleys

and the rivers, they blended together and with the other famous historical

monument cultures such as temples, pagodas, which makes a fanciful space

and lyrical.

Trang An includes many lakes and ponds, connected by many caves that are

founded like Dia Linh, Sinh cave, Si cave, Nau Ruou cave, ….each cave has a

unique characteristic as their name.

Tran temple was built by the requirement of the King Dinh Tien

Hoang. After this time, the King Tran Thai Tong came here to rebuilt it

become the Vu Lam royal place. There is the worship of Kim Minh genie,

who governed the Northern gate wall.

Tran temple is on the high mountain with lyrical sceneries. There usually is

held a traditional holiday on March 18rd ( the lunar calendar), which

consisting many unique activities such as: the offering, procession and

many traditional games.

Typical caves

Compared to the other resorts in Ninh Binh with the same form to travel

as Tam Coc-Bich Dong which takes the tourism mainly on river, the nature

reserve of Van Long has journey on ecological lagoon while Trang An

caves have a distinct characteristic form on the water of valley created by

Hoa Lu Ancient

Capital

The Ancient Capital is located among Hoa Lu, Gia Vien Districts

and Ninh Binh city. This is the first one of feudal sate in Viet Nam

associated with the history of three dynasties: Dinh, Tien Le, and the

beginning of Ly. Nowadays, The Hoa Lu Ancient Capital becomes a

Dinh Tien Hoang temple

Tomb of King Dinh Tien Hoang

is situated on Ma Yen Mountain.

The mountain has the shape of

back of a horse. To reach up to

the tomb, visitors must pass 265

rock steps.

Dinh Tien Hoang Temple was

built by Viet Nam folk artists

between 17th

and 19th

centuries. It

is a unique architecture with

sculptured dragons, shrimps, rats

Le Dai Hanh temple

It is a national cultural historic

vestige, located 300m from Dinh

Tien Hoang Temple. It has a close

and fanciful space.The unique

feature of the Temple is that the

carved wood art reached a very

fined and ingenious level in the

17th

century.

The statue of Empress Duong Van

Nga is an original architecture. Her

outer robe is sculpted with supple

creases, loosened so as to reveal

the inside of the blouse with it

special patterns. It displays a

beautiful woman.

Le Dai Hanh, another name - Le

Hoan has a great service in repulsing

the Chinese invasion Sacking Champa.

His tomb lies at the foot of Yen Ma

Mountain,surrounded by limestone

rocks. Here has the green cover plants

in four seasons. It makes visitors feel

relaxing and peaceful.

The cave is located at the foot

of Dung Duong Mountain, and

discovered from the dynasty of

Hung king.In front of the cave is a

high long and arched row of

natural rock like the mouth of the

giant dragon. Come here, the

Elysium.

Its unique feature is that all

worshipping objects are made of

stones. There are many historical

and cultural relics along with 12

small arhat statues and a bell

above them which can make 4

The traditional festivals of Hoa Lu anually are held from 8 to 10th

March

(the lunnar celendar). It is a national festival to worshop two talented Kings:

Dinh TienHoang and Le Dai Hanh, which contributes to remind about the

glorious chapter in our’history.

The traditional games: the military exercise with reed wood, lion dance,

cock-fights, and recently added with the beauty contest in Hoa Lu anciant

capital, the singers of the villages in Hoa Lu.

This annual traditional festival in Hoa Lu ancient capital shows the close-

knit relationship among the past, the present and the future in a large

communication, remind everyone about the original point.

Bai Dinh pagoda

Bai dinh is located on a mountain slope, between vast valleys and rocky

moutains in the western gate’s entrance into Hoa Lu ancient Capital. The

pagoda was built to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of King Ly Thai To

moving the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long. By the end of June in 2009,

after the first-year completion, it set the six recognized records and at the

beginning of 2012, received more the 2 ones for the biggest pagoda in Asia.

Being recognized many records, but Bai Dinh is not truly famous for these,

what makes it actractive is that the architecture brings deeply the traditiona

character besides its monumentalness and massiveness. For domestic

visitors, come here to look for a peaceful space, to enjoy a quiet and

spacious place as well as to find a spiritually scared one. For tourists in the

world, the journey to Bai Dinh is not only simple to visit the scared place,

but an opportunity to know the Vietnamese culture better through the

unique architecture and stone sculpture.

Located on the highest place in Bai Dinh, Tam The is a high and massive

temple with a three-layer curved roof, making it bold and solemn. There

are two entrances to go up the temple, each one is 8m in width and

decorated with a couple stone dragon, carved skillfully in two sides. There

are three Tam The statues, made from bronze and inlaid with gold. Each

statue is about 7.2 meters in height and 50 tons in weight, seated in the

gorgeous lotus. It is confirmed that “The pagoda has the biggest bronze

Tam The statue in Viet Nam”. They are the symbols of Buddhist in three

ages: the past, the present and the future, which are the three statues from

the right, middle and the left position.

Arhat Statues

Visitors will go along corridor to

reach the main place. Bai Dinh pagoda

has longest corridors measuring

1.700m in length. . It consists of over

500 Arhat statues made in 2005 by

100 artisans and 700 workers. Each

one is 2.5m in height and weight of 4

tons from monolith in different shapes

and sizes. More than 500 Arhat statues

present 500 different postures

depicting earthly life.

Bell - tower

It hangs a bell measuring

weight of 36 tons and shape in

octagonal. It is carved sufficient

patterns and two sutras by

Chinese and Vietnamese.

Moreover, below the bell is a

kettledrum (70 tons). There are

three floors of roof.

Each one is acomposite of eight

roofs. The patterns are

sophisticated and bring

characteristics of Buddhist art.

Buddha statue

Di Lac statue is made from

bronze and seated firmly on the

top of the hill in Bai Dinh

pagoda. It is about 10 meters in

height and 80 tons in weight. It

symbols for optimism and

happiness. So, many visitors

come here to pray for the luck

and peace to all members in their

family.
