GEOGRAPHY Valencia the former capital of the Kingdom of Valencia and now chief town of the province, is the third largest city in Spain, is located near the Mediterranean coast on the right bank of the River Turia

HISTORY

-In second century BC Valencia fell into the hands of the Carthaginians. Became a Roman colony, which rose to prosperity in the reign of Augustus (in the second century BC).-In 413 passed to the Visigoths and to the Moors in 714, who called City of Joy. -In 1092 Valencia it became an independent kingdom, which was conquered by the Almoravids.2 years later Valencia it was recovered by the Mio Cid. But fell again in the hands of the Moors.

1228 it became the capital of a Moorish kingdom until its reconquest by Jaime I of Aragon. 1808 the city rises against the French.

CLIMATEAlicante, Valencia and Castellón form the three

THE FALLAS

The Fallas is one of Valencia's biggest events of the year. The Fallas occur from 15 March - 19 March when there is an explosion in the square in front of the city hall to mark the start of the festival. This event include parades and loud firework bangers. This figures or sculptures known as 'fallas' are constructed all over the city.It is a incredible event.
