ACCOMMODATIONS

Shanghai, October 19-20

Hangzhou, October 21-22

We recommend packing as lightly as possible. There are laundry and dry cleaning services available at each hotel. Laundry can be completed in 4 hours.

Please be sure to bring a sufficient amount of business cards. Business cards are of great importance in China.

If you have an international cell phone/blackberry it will work in all three cities; Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, provided that you have an international calling plan. When making a call outside the country however, it is often easier and cheaper to use a calling card. Calling cards can be purchased at the hotel or online at: http://www.consumer.att.com/global/english/away/callingcard.html or http://www.callingcards.com/

The currency used in China (Beijing and Shanghai) is the Yuan or Renminbi (RMB or ¥) which is pegged to the US dollar. Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong Dollar.

All major bank cards and credit cards are accepted in China and on the ATM machines. You will not be able to exchange RMB prior to the trip due to China's closed capital system. Make sure to keep your exchange receipts if you want to change any ofyour remaining RMB at the end of your trip. Please remember that you can only exchange RMB within China's borders.

Please make sure to call your bank and credit card companies prior to the trip informing them of your trip to China. If you use your bank or credit card during the trip without informing them, they will most likely report your card as stolen and freeze the account.

If you need to receive a fax or any FedEx packages while on the trip we suggest that you have this sent/shipped to the hotel. For contact information on each of the hotels please refer to the accommodation section.

In hotels, local calls are generally free or will be charged only a nominal fee.
