Efficient Epoxidation of Alkenes with Hydrogen Peroxide, Lactone, and Lipase. — The epoxidation occurs via lipase-catalyzed formation of hydroxy peroxy acid from lactone and in situ chemical oxidation of alkenes. Both hydrophilic ε-caprolactone and hydrophobic δ-decanolactone are shown to be good substrates to produce hydroxy per-acids and good reaction solvents. — (XU, Y.; RANONG, N.; KHAW, B.
