members and guests of the Association.
The prestigious Gloryland Cultural Centre in Yenagoa has been earmarked to be the one-stop
venue of most of the convention events, while Intercontinental Hotel is to host the opening
cocktail party/founders’ night and festival of life on the day of arrival which is Thursday 2nd
November, 2006. The awards night and 25th Anniversary dinner which would round up the 3
days literary fiesta on Saturday the 4th of November, 2006 is to be hosted by the Bayelsa State
Government. The State Governor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is the Chief Host of the
convention and the Secretary to the State Govt. Dr. Boladei Igali, had at various times in the past
assured the National Exco and the LOC of the State’s readiness to extend the Bayelsan
Hospitality to the Association during the convention. The special Adviser to the Governor of
Bayelsa State on Research and Documentation, Mr. Nengi Josef Ilagha, pioneer chairman of
ANA chapter in Bayelsa , remarked during the recent assessment visit that “2006 ANA

opportunity for Bayelsa State to showcase itself and an opportunity for ANA to make an
enduring statement”

Baro.As the goodwill ambassador of the 25th Anniversary Convention, Dr. Gabriel Okara, the
LOC and the State Govt. get set to deliver a memorable convention, the National Executive
Council has put in place measures to celebrate ANA 25th Anniversary in a grand way by
upgrading the quality and quantity of convention souvenirs. To mark the 25th Anniversary of the
Association the Exco on behalf of members are admitting some personalities into fellowship of
the Association. They are as follows: Ken Saro Wiwa, Femi Osofisan, Olu Obafemi, Odia
Ofeimun, Kole Omotoso , Abubakar Gimba (all past presidents of the Association) and Late
Maj. Gen. Mamman Vatsa for his support for ANA in its early years. Last year, ANA gave out
its first fellowships to her trustees.

3. Next, I clinched the ‘Man of the Year’, 2011, International Award in Reinforced
Composites presented to me by the American Biographical Institute. See letter of
award below.
11
4. Consequently, the following year, 2012, I was nominated for inclusion into the:
INTERNATIONAL DICTIONARY OF PROFESSIONALS by the same
American Biographical Institute.
12
5. Towards the end of the year, 2012, I received the Award of Excellence in
Reinforced composites. The letter of award is also included here in the
appendices.
6. In the same 2010, February, I was chosen to rank universities in Sub-Saharan Africa by
Thomson Reuters International, USA – the body that ranks universities all over the
world. This was not surprising because by 2010, one of the major publishers of my
works: “Journal of Advanced Materials, Covina, USA (A journal publishing outfit which
started in 1944) sold out my works along with others to every known virtual libraries of
the world interested in buying them. Countries scrambled for them culminating in these
works making an overwhelming presence in the internet. They (the buyers), not only
translated them into more than fifteen international languages but they also hoisted them
in endless websites some of which request as much as £9.8 payment to download any
one of these journal papers. This payment can be made by any interested researcher
using a credit card from any point online anywhere in the world.
FEDERAL & STATE GOVERNMENT ASSIGNMENTS:
2007: Nominated member, committee for the Development of curricular for the
primary & post-primary Education, Enugu State.
2005 – 2012: Special Guest Lecturer and Author to the Young Readers Club Programme.
Nigerian Television Authority hoisted a young readers club programme and because they have
found two of my novels: The Sin of the Flesh and A Costly Mistake very useful
for their programs which was geared at stirring-up the interest of the youth to
develop reading habit, I was invited to a series of Television appearances in the
Enugu branch of NTA from time to time. These appearances were televised
across all NTA stations every week. This program lasted for a long period of time
before they were phased out.
2012 to date: National Universities Commission: Federal Universities Accreditation

1(d) Special Achievements/Innovations
As Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, UNN:
– Launched out vigorous call for alumni funding. With the fund raised, total and
completed renovation of the staff offices and classrooms was achieved. This
involved re-flooring Agbebi IV with titles; replacement of windows with modern
ones; rewiring and ceiling; procurement of new writing boards; teacher-stand;
burglary proofing, painting, students desks, etc.
– Alongside this was the tireless effort to equip our laboratories, renew retired
technical and academic staff to ensure we had enough to face the then approaching
COREN accreditation. Review and production of undergraduate and graduate
academic handbooks and regulation for every student to access a copy was also
taken-up with the Vice-Chancellor. The result was a resounding full accreditation
for the Department.
– Also established a Departmental data bank of results so that in thirty years time a
former student can return to the Department, open that single book and see every
detail of his results and performance. This was prompted by subsequent loss of files
experienced recurrently as Head of Department..
As Coordinator, School of Postgraduate Studies:
– When I came on board, there was no clear distinction between the courses offered
by PGD students and those in the Masters’ Degree cadre. I got the Head of
Department to set up a committee chaired by Prof. C.I. Ezekwe (former Vice
Chancellor, ANSU Uli) and we raised courses separately for PGD students so that
their course contents and titles did not in any way merge or interfere with each
other. I also went online and down-loaded the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology course outline along with those of University of London, Cambridge
and Harvard from where we were able to establish the courses for our students.
As Coordinator, Undergraduate Degree Projects
– Raised specific topics for every final year student of the Department by requesting
every staff lecturer to send in specific minimum number of titles/topics into a joint
pool for distribution to students. The distribution involved pasting these
titles/topics in the students classroom for two weeks so that everyone of them would
16
make a choice of his/her topic of interest. The topic chosen by a student
automatically determines who becomes his/her supervisor. There are two
advantages of this method: (1) It eliminates the opportunity of students lifting topics
done elsewhere and suggesting same to their supervisor – some of who maybe too
busy to raise a topic for them (2) The situation where students chose lecturers who
happen to be their friends and in the process get protected even when they have
done nothing to merit success was wiped out.
– Finally, I obtained the average scores of the lecturers during seminar/defence and
added same to supervisors scores to obtain final figures.
– I ensured that a data bank of all students projects executed in the Department was
kept and that no further repetitions of same topics were allowed in subsequent years
except for cases involving optimization.
– I raised over five hundred titles/topics before I left the office.
2. Teaching/Research
Teaches/Taught the following undergraduate courses:
– Mechanics of Machines I (MEC 341)
– Mechanics of Machines II (MEC 441)
– Mechanical Engineering Design I (ME 314)
– Mechanical Vibrations & Control (ME 541)
Teaches/Taught the following Postgraduate Courses:
– Analysis of capital investment (MEC 685)
--- Mechanical properties of metals and alloys (MEC 621)
Research Work:
Involved in research works in the areas of:
– Fibre Reinforced Composites
– Automotive Safety Mechanisms
– Fuel Economy Injection Mechanisms
3. Project/thesis supervision
– Assembled over five hundred project titles/topics for final year students as
undergraduate degree coordinator
– Supervised over one hundred and twenty final year undergraduate students degree
projects in Mechanical Engineering to date
