Founding Story

InMarch2011,IvisitedacoalminelocatedinaremoteareaofSoutheastAsia.Thescenewaschaotic.Hundredsofexcavatorsandtransporterswereoperatingwhilehordesofworkersworkedtirelesslyinsidethemines.Thesheerscaleoverwhelmedmewithasenseofdiscomfort,andIaskedmyselfhowthiscaneverbesustainable.Perhapsfatefully,ontheverysamedaywhenIreturnedtomyhotel,newsoftheaccidentattheFukushimanuclearpowerplantwasbeingreportedoneverychannel.Botheventsmademedeeplyquestionthecurrentnormofusingcoal-firedpowerandnuclearpowerasamainpowersupplysource.Itinspiredmetoestablishabusinessthatcanshifttheworldtowardsusingmoredistributedandcleanerenergy.

DaichiKamisono(37)HardwareEngineerFor 10 years, Daichi has designed and developed various hardware(electric circuits) such as safety door switches and vision sensors atOmron Corporation. He miraculously appeared as a savior to solvehardwareproblemsbeforethereleaseoftheoriginalNatureRemo, andsoonafterofficiallyjoinedtheteam.

34

AtNature,Icandoalltheelectricboarddesignssothereisa huge sense of accomplishment in dealing with thedifficult and challenging process. I can determineeverything fromdeciding components todesigningmoreefficientandsaferdesigns.Thiswas thereason Idecidedtochangejobs, astherearestillrestrictionsonwhatIcandoinalargecompany. It ischallengingandinterestingtobe able toworkmore freely andwithmore responsiblitywithoutrestrictions.

WhoIenjoyworkingwith:

Nature is very particular about designs, so the hardwarerequirements are quite high. Good designs are of coursedifficulttomake,soIwantpeoplewhocankeepthinkingabout unique ways to push boundaries and continue toimproveourdesign.

SohKitahara(32) SoftwareEngineer

Soh graduated from the graduate school of policy media at KeioUniversitygraduate school (SFC) in2012.Asa student, hedevelopednumerousserviceandappssuchasLobiatKAYACInc.Aftergraduatingfrom university, he worked for KAYAC. In 2018, Soh officially joinedNature,Inc.

35

ThefunpartofmyjobisthatIcanmakeproductsthatIuseinmydailylife. I likemakingthingsthatIuseeveryday,soIthinkit'saperfectjobforme.Ipersonallytakecarenottooverworkconsideringitisacompanywithasmall number of people who depend on each other.Overworking affects the overall development schedule, andyoucan'tmakegoodthingsifyou'retired.

WhoIenjoyworkingwith:

Ialwayswanttoworkwith"special"people,soifyouareconfident,let'sworktogether!

Tomomi Nagao (32) Designer Tomomigraduated fromMusashinoArtUniversity’sDepartmentofCraft and Industrial Design in 2010. Later she worked on mobiledesignandproductdesignforIoTproductsatKyoceraCorporationfor8years.ShehasworkedonNatureRemo’sindustrialdesignsinceitsfounding,andcurrentlyhandlesNature’soveralldesign.

36

The appeal of working at Nature is that you are involved in manufacturing from scratch. I think there is no better chance to create a brand in-house from the beginning as a designer. Also, being able to work closely with people of various areas, such as hardware and software design is something that you don’t get at large organizations. I have a wide range of work and it is fun to discover something everyday. Joining has proved to be a whole new experience for me.

Who I enjoy working with :

I want people who are unique to come work with us. Nature's people are all specialized, knowledgeable and fast working, but they're really interesting. So if you love design and like to have fun, then let's work together!

37

ThecompanyisstillsmallandIgettodoalotofwork

outsideofcustomersupportwhichmakesit

interesting.Ialsogettoseewhat'sgoingoninside

thewholecompany.Besidesthat,asagadgetlover,

it'sagreatpleasuretoworkwiththelatesttechnology

thathasn'treachedmanypeopleyet.Iliketokeepup

witheverythingwhichformeisalotoffun.

WhoIenjoyworkingwith:

WorkingatNaturerequiresanunderstandingofIoT

andproducts,butIthinkthatitisequallysuitablefor

thosewhoarewillingtolearn.Ialsowantthosewho

havetheirownuniquestrengthstojoinus!

Ryota Kajimoto (34) Customer Support RyotafirstworkedincustomersupportatCameraKitamuraasthestoremanager.Afterthat,hemovedontoworkincustomersupportwithDMMandwithasocialgameventure.
