FitChick is a magazine created for young women that are serious about fitness and exercise. They want to be strong, not just skinny. Fitchick magazine provides support for these women as well as providing serious hardcore workouts and techniques to become just as strong as the boys. The magazine design has to be just a strong and bold as the women who will read it. The designs are colorful with modern graphic elements that look sleek and fresh. The design of the magazine has a lot of geometric elements to allude to being fact or having action. The magazine is also designed to use shades of red that get lighter with each spread to show progression.

Antiques are not always something that can be readily available in a urban setting much less at an appropriate cost. The overall objective is to bring awareness about antiques and how furniture can be “green” and environmentally friendly and to encourage consumers to go to the web site for more information and shop in more antique stores. The design challenge is to make something seemingly boring and out dated, such as antique furniture, and put a new and fresh spin on it, which revitalizes the product and helps it appeal to a current, young and influential demographic. This look is achieved by using interesting photography and handwritten type that is a popular trend right now. The campaign also included an interactive public display that also links to social media.

Postcards are a great way to remember trips you take or places that are special to you. These postcards are unique in that they portray these different states in more of an abstract way. Each illustration is based off of elevation maps for each state. By using these measurements as a base, and drawing a continuous line radiating out, each state is filled with a variety of lines that make each one unique. Each postcard features the founded date of each state as well as a unique quote relating to travel. Each postcard is sponsored by the Geological Society.

The purpose of this campaign is to empower women to show their wild side and to be brave and strong with not only makeup, but with other aspects of their lives. Women don’t need to cover their faces, but instead express themselves with it. These ads do not include pretty and unattainable faces, but instead bright and colorful backgrounds with strong messages meant to encourage independence and individuality. Makeup is seen as more than just a product to make you look beautiful. It is an expression of your personality and freedom to be who you are. These advertisements also have a coordinating website where people can view makeup tutorials using each unique makeup palette.

Orange Wheels, which collects donations of leftover oranges from orange groves around the Florida-Georgia area and makes hygiene products such as shampoos and bars of soap out of them. Orange Wheels travels around the country and provides hygiene products to people and places in need. Orange Wheels is an international company and goes to places effected by natural disasters. The logo needed to be comforting and familiar but also clean to portray their product. Orange was an ideal color since the products themselves will be an orange color. The pop of green further enhances the fresh clean organic feel. The type face is modern and clean and is simple enough to transfer to any packaging or business piece. There is also a clear hierarchy of the text, even though the word orange is split into three separate lines it is still easily readable and recognizable.

Each wedding anniversary has a different meaning. The meaning for 50th anniversary is gold. These set of three anniversary cards were designed to celebrate this special occasion in marriage. The illustrations are hand-drawn, each of the reflecting a different style, but all depicting the couple being connected or “intertwined”. Each card is then covered in gold foil with only the negative space remaining. The inside of the card states “Gold is Forever. Happy 50th Anniversary”. As well the back has the hallmark logo also in gold leaf.

A campaign for Nettles Fine Jewelry store centered around the new trend of recycled diamonds. Recycled diamonds are cheaper environmentally friendly, trendy and they fit the current fad of “up cycling”. The idea is to get people to sell their current diamond and buy a new recycled, and re-certified diamond instead of a new one. This campaign relies entirely on info-graphics to explain and illustrate the process of what a recycled diamond is, and how consumers can benefit from it. The elements include an in-store takeaway for customers as well as social media and website banner.

Traveling with young children can be a hassle and stressful for everyone. Especially when traveling long distances on a plane. This travel book, provided by Jet Blue, is a coloring and activity book to entertain children on long flights. Not only is the book interactive with fill in the blanks and places to draw your own, but it is also educational. The book is separated into three parts to explain the countries France, Italy and Rome. There is a short paragraph explaining each country and the art styles there. Each section also includes a full spread of each countries landscape drawn in a specific art style. The purpose of the book is to keep children occupied and entertained while also giving them a chance to learn new things.

When a mother’s child goes into basic training for the military it can be a very confusing and stressful time. The lack of connection with the child only makes this process more difficult. The app mirrors aspects of a social media application, but specializes it with a unique tag system to search by branch or the location of other military moms to make connecting easier. By having an outlet for these women to get support and create relationships with other moms, it helps ease the stress during these trying times. This application generates a space to help this very special group of women come together as a community.
