Youth Farm SeehausResidential programme for juvenile delinquents

as alternative to prison

• Target group: 14-19 year old juveniles and adolescents who have been sentenced to a prison term (~ 2 years)

• Problem:– Influence of Inmate Subculture– Recidivism rate up to 92,20 %1

Youth Farm Seehaus

• Goal:– Separation of young prisoners from older prisoners

– Education program for the specific age

– Integration in society

• Beneficiaries: – juveniles, (potential) victims, community, government

Jugendhof Seehaus

• Placement in a residential programme run by Prisma (NGO)

• „closed regime“ – juveniles must not leave the property, but:

• no locks, no bars

• Security through social control (staff & students)

• In case of AOL (Absence without Leave) or inadequate behaviour: return to prison

• Duration of stay: ~ 12 months (depending on sentence)
