Listen to a short passage and pick out the underlined expression which is the closest to what you have heard.1. an independent 2. consumed too many system
resources 3. install the new system on a partition
with nothing on it 4. visit 5. a folder contained in another folder
Script for Part 1
Alex: I installed Windows 7 on a separate partition so I
could conduct side-by-side analysis with Vista. The
installation took merely 20 minutes. Immediately, I noticed a
significantly improved startup time over Vista. Windows 7
fires up to the logon screen in 30 seconds. Web pages load
quicker. Programs run appreciably faster. The memory
footprint is also reduced measurably. Vista always felt a bit
heavy. I've experienced zero driver compatibility issues. It
installed the requisite drivers for my HP Printer, network
card, video card, etc. I encourage an upgrade to Windows 7. I
highly recommend that you do a clean install however.
Script for Part 1
Mark: Windows 7 won't let me access My
Documents from the desktop - when I try to put a
shortcut there, the shortcut opens "Libraries" with
"Documents" a subfolder, and "My Documents" a
subfolder to that. What’s more, the Office 2007
ribbon has now been added to Paint and WordPad.
For users who dislike the ribbon concept from Office
2007, this seems bothersome.

Answer the Questions (Keys)
1. The first thing you'll notice about Windows 7 is that it looks like Vista.
2. Most of Vista's annoyances have either been removed, or can be changed so the system works the way you like. It takes personalization to extremes.
3. Microsoft has analyzed the data from millions of user computing sessions to find out exactly what people do with their computers, then attacked the "pain points" to make Windows 7 quicker and smoother.
4. The catch is that upgrading a PC running Windows XP requires a clean installation of Windows 7: you can't do an in-place upgrade. This has been a source of complaints, because it means reinstalling all your applications as well.
