Unlessinstructedotherwise, students are notpermittedto be outof uniform
ontheschoolpremises. They are expectedto wearacleanproper uniform
throughouttheschoolday.Theschoolshirtwith theschoollogo, propersized
pants (not tootightand noskinny pants allowed,alsono saggingpants
thatexposeundergarments. No eccentricitieswillbe accepted by the
school,andthat includes,
butisnotlimitedto:piercing,oddhairstyles,hairdyes,aswellas accessories.
Students who willnotabideby the dresscodewillbe allowedin
theclassroombut are going to be punished according to the rules.

PARENTALCOMMUNICATIONS
Communicationwithparentsis avitalpartof thehome–school link.
Communicationhelpsto establishtherelationshipthatwill resultin better
studentachievement. Conferences withparents are considered an integral partof the
school’s system forreportingstudent progress toparents; both positive and
negative.The schoolschedulesregular parents’ meetingsto discussyour
son’s/daughter’s progress withtheteachers and the Administration.
From timetotime, parents may berequestedbytheAdministration to attendaone
ononecounselingsession concerning yourson/daughter. When thisis required,
parentswillbeinformed byawrittenrequestaswell asaphonecall.Parents
shouldfeelfreetocallthe schooltoarrangean appointment,asthey deemnecessary
tomeetwiththeteachers.
Parents are also allowed to observe the performance of their sons/daughters and
get notified with all school announcements through the school program ( Moodle)

ATTENDANCEPOLICY
All studentsareexpectedtoattendschoolregularlyand beon
timefortheirclasses.Regularattendanceisnecessaryifstudentsaretobe
successfulintheircourses.Irregularattendancemakesthelearningprocessmoredifficult
forthestudentsaswellas their
teachers.Theeducationalprocessrequiresaregularcontinuityofinstruction,classroom
participation, learningexperiencesand
studyinginordertoreachthemaximumbenefits.
Poorattendancehasadirecteffectoncourseassessmentresults.Studentsmaybe
excusedfromattendanceonlyforfamilyemergencies,andillness.
Ineithercase,awrittendocumentation
isrequireduponreturntoschool.However,noearlyleavewill
begrantedunderanycircumstances.Incaseofanystudent developinga
feverand/orillness,parentswillbeimmediately contacted.
Studentswithmorethan12absenceswillreceivean“F”for thesemestercourse.
Whenthestudentisabsent,theschoolrequiresawrittennote
providingthefollowinginformation:
• Thedatethenoteisbeingwritten.
• Student’sfullnameandhis/herclass.
• Dateofabsence.
• Reasonforabsence.
• Parent’ssignatureandcontactnumber.
Ifthereasonfora student’sabsenceisduetosickness,awrittenmedicaldocumentation
must beprovided,aslongasthetotal number
ofdaysofabsencedoesnotexceedthelimit(12 days).
Theschoolhastherighttoacceptorrefusethemedical
certificate.Thestudentisrequiredtomakeupallschoolwork
missedduringanabsence.Absentstudents, withavalid excuse, areentitledto make-

TARDINESS
It is the student’sresponsibilityto be atschoolandinclasson time. Studentswhoare
late forschoolmustreport tothe Office before enteringclass.
Ifastudentarrivesto schoolafter 8:00am, aparentmustcalltheoffice statingthereason
fortardiness. Thiscall, however,doesnotautomatically excusethestudent
forbeingtardy.Excused tardinesswillbeaccepted only in caseof emergency.
Car problemsortrafficareNOTconsideredasemergencies. Students areto be
presentin theclassroomwhen the bellringstostartclass.
Schoolgates areclosed at 8:05am.Students, whoarrive between 8:00am and
8:30am,are referred totheAdministration. Parents will be contacted.
Studentswhoarriveafter 8:30am willbe allowedin theclassroombut are going to be
punished according to the rules.
First time: A warning will be issued and kept in the student's file.

Studentsarenotallowedtoleaveschoolpremisesforany reasonduring the school day.
Afterofficialdismissalof schoolat2:30pm,all studentsmust
leavetheschoolpremises,exceptforthoseattendingafterschool
tutorials,orthoseunderthesupervisionofafacultymember.
Studentsarenotpermittedtoloiteroutsidetheschoolgatesor
nearbystreetcornersafterdismissal.Thisappliestostudents walkinghomeor
usingtaxiservice.
Studentswaitingforprivatecarsmustwaitinthe courtyardnot
farfromthegate.Studentsare notpermittedtowaitoutsidethe schoolgates.
Pleasemakesurethattheschoolhasaccurateandupdated
phonenumbersinordertoensureourabilitytocontactyou.

SCHOOLSERVICES
Library Use:
The libraryis availableand opentostudents iftheywish todo research,check
outbooks orlearn library skills.Studentsmustabide by the established library rules
andregulations. Students may check outamaximumof two books atonetime,
foraperiodof2-weeks each time. TheLibraryisopendaily from 8:00amto 2:30 pm.
Emergencies:
ITISIMPERATIVETO HAVECURRENTEMERGENCY
INFORMATIONINTHEOFFICE.Students shouldfillout theMedical
Information Form at thebeginningof eachacademicyear. This informationis
keptcurrentand updated (address, phone numbers, cellular phone numbers, etc.)
in theAdministration.This information is extremelyimportant inthe eventthat
theschoolneedstocontact parents/guardians in case ofemergency.

MedicalProcedures:
DarElTarbiahhasregistered medicalpersonneloneach campus. Students requiring
medicalattentionwillbetaken tothedoctorfora checkup.In each sectionof theschool,
there are FirstAidkits availableforminorscrapesand cuts aswellas minorachesand
pains.
In case astudent requires furtherminorattention,theparents willbe informed
byphoneand willbeasked:
a)If theywishtomeeta staffmemberand the studentata hospital(the
studentaccompaniedthe staffmember willbetakentothehospital by schoolvehicle).
Or
b)If theywishtocome to schoolandgotothehospitalwiththe student.
Dar ElTarbiahAmerican SchoolhasMedical Insurancewith the Ministry of
Education.
In the caseofamajor injury, the student willbeautomatically taken tohospital,and
theparents willbeinformedbyphonetogodirectlyto hospital,where a staffmember
willbewaiting forthem.
AllPhysicalEducationinstructors are trainedto dealwithsports injuries and
inhandlingminor injuries.
At thebeginning oftheschoolyear, every studentreceivesaBasic Medical Form
tobefilled outandsigned by theParents,andreturned to school tobeplaced
inthestudent'sfile.
ParentsshouldinformSchoolAdministrationofanymedical
condition(contagiousdiseasessuchaschickenpox,measles,
etc.)theirson/daughterhasbeenincontactwith,in orderto informtheschoolcommunity.

Accident Reporting:
Allaccidents are reportedto theSchoolAdministrationand schooldoctorto ensure
propertreatment.Afterreferralofthe student to the
schooldoctorfortreatment,thedoctorwill determine, accordingtothekind of
injurywhetherfurthermedicaltreatment is required.The schooldoctor will respond
toaccidents and medicalemergencies. If somethingmore seriousoccurs, parents
will be calledimmediatelyand appropriatemeasures willbetakenafter
consultationwith them. In caseof minoraccidents ontheschool
grounds,theschooldoctor willtreatthestudentandnotify the parents.
Safety:
DarElTarbiahconducts regular firedrills throughouttheschoolyear. These drillsare
conducted forthe safety of thestudents and school personnel.Building
evacuationprocedures are postedin eachclassroomand explainedto the students
within the first few weeks ofschool.Tamperingwiththefire extinguishers willbe
consideredan offense resultingin asubstantialfine and suspension
fromschool.Allemployees areinformedofthelocationofthe fire extinguishers in
eachbuilding. Amap oftheevacuationroutes and procedures areposted nextto
thedoorin allclassrooms.
PlaygroundRules:
Playgroundrules are based onsportsmanship, friendlyand fair play,andthe
reasonable resolutionof any disagreement.There willbe nofighting or pushing
around;handsand feetshouldbe kept toself. DarEl Tarbiahalsostresses that
English language isspokenat most of the time.Any
studentwhoneedsanykindofassistancemustaskthe teacheron duty or the
supervisorifaproblem persists.

LunchesandCanteens:
There are canteensonbothschoolcampuses. IntheElementary
Schoolcampus,thecanteenoffers healthy snacks(milk, juices, etc.).In
theHighSchoolcampus, thecanteenoffers hotsandwiches, potato chips, juice,
etc.Students canalso bringtheirlunchboxesfromhome.
Studentsshouldkeepthe eating areaclean,and to dispose of trashin
thetrashbinsavailable. Studentsshouldstay inthe designatedareas.
Lost andFound:
There areLost and FoundBoxeson both campuses. Lostand found items are kept
inthese boxes.Certain items suchas pursesor walletswillbe keptintheMain Office.
Ifanitemislost, thestudent shouldcheck firstintheLost andFoundboxes. The loss
ofproperty may beminimized by writing theowner's nameon every article.
FieldTrips:
Allclassesgo on field trips –educationalorfun field trips. School sendshome
withstudentsaletterinforming parentsofthefieldtrip– date(s),destinationand cost.
Parents orlegalguardianshouldfill.The Permission Slipattached tothelettergiving
theirapprovalordisapproval forthe studenttogoon thedesignated field tripshouldbe
sent toschool. Noverbalor phonecallpermissionwillbe accepted. Educationaland
Educationrelated fieldtrips are partofthecurriculum, andoffergood opportunities
forfirsthandexperiencetostudents.Fieldtripsare an
essentialpartofthecurriculum,andtherefore are mandatory for all students.
AnnualEvents:
The schoolorganizes thegraduationceremonyevery year.
Studentscannotusethe name oftheschool inany event including proms
withoutawritten approval stamped by the school.

BusCode:
Bus service isprovided forstudents who subscribetotheservice.Students usingthe
buses arerequiredtobehavein a properway,andwith respectto both the bus
supervisorsand the drivers.
BusServiceis provided doortodoor, however theschool reserves the rightto apply
restrictions whenbelieved required.Students notcontractingthis service willnotbe
allowed toridethe buses. Students mustrespect thebus rules:
• Followsupervisor'sinstructions.
• Keephands, feetand objectsto themselves.
• Share seats,remainseated correctly.
• Be niceand respectothers.
• Nofood ordrinks.
Students are expectedtoremaincalm and quietonthebusin ordernotto distractthe
driver.If a studentviolatesthebus ruleshe/she will be subject to disciplinaryaction
which,inspecificcases may be suspendedfromridingthe bus.
Studentsusingthe buses are strictlyforbiddentoleave schoolgrounds ina
vehicleotherthan theirassignedbuses.
Students are requiredto submitanotesigned byparents or guardian to the
Administration before permissionisgrantedtoride anunassigned bus.
Students leavingschool groundswithoutauthorizationareundertheirown
responsibility
Buses aretobeconsidered schoolproperty, anydamage or defacingofa
buswillfallintothecode ofconducton the sametermsas destructionof schoolproperty.
