Kindergarten 2018 Parent Information Sessions!
It was wonderful to meet so many new families and returning families at our two Kindergarten Parent
Information sessions today. The partnership we share with you in supporting the academic, social and
emotional learning of your children is vital! We hope to have a long and productive relationship over the
years ahead. Mrs Rafidi and the team have worked diligently to ensure these sessions have been
informative and ensure a smooth transition to next year.
Our Kindergarten 2018 planning is well underway. If you haven’t yet enrolled your pre-schooler for
Kindergarten 2018 at WPS, please collect an enrolment form from the office. You will need to bring with
you originals of proof of residential address, birth certificate and immunisation records and any visa
paperwork (if required).
If you have friends living in the area who have children of school starting age you might like to let them
know it is time to sign up and enrol their children for school in 2018.

Forward planning for 2018 and class placement for 2018
We are busily planning in preparation for next year. In order to allow us to plan
as effectively as possible, we would like those families who know that they
won’t be returning to the school next year, to confirm these details as soon as
possible. I have included a slip at the end of the newsletter for you to complete
and send back to the front office if this scenario applies to you. Thank you for
your anticipated co-operation with this matter.
Class placement for 2018 is a complex task in which staff invest a lot of time and effort. Parents are welcome
to provide written information to Mrs Lockrey (The Principal) by Friday November 3, 2017 if there are
specific needs you think should be taken into consideration about your child /children when considering class
placements in 2018. Any information which is delivered to Mrs Lockrey after this date will unfortunately not be
able to be considered in class placements for 2018.
Consideration to social and emotional needs, academic ability and behaviour can be considered, but no
guarantees can be made as staff make determinations which are in the best interest of all attempting to
achieve a balance in each class. It is a difficult task which teachers weigh up very carefully. Parent requests
for changes of their child’s class will not be considered in 2018 as this is a school management decision and
we commit considerable time in formulating the structure for the following year.

Next P&C Meeting –
NAPLAN overview presentation by Principal
At the next P&C meeting in November, I will be presenting an overview of the trends in NAPLAN data from
2017 which is most pleasing. I would value you coming along so I can share some good news from our
Year 3 and 5 students this year and outline the School’s Strategic Direction for the next 3 years. The
feedback from the Parent Focus Groups recently held, are invaluable as we continue to work on the
School Plan 2018-2020 draft. We will have the School Plan published on our school website by the end of
Term 1 2018.
Upgrade of Wentworthville facilities – Opportunities for
families to be informed and have input There will be two consultative opportunities coming up for families and our school community in November
regarding the new build and upgrades as we accommodate the growth as a school and consider future
focussed learning opportunities. We will also be asking for your feedback via a survey that will come out in
both electronic and paper form.
Please join us on:
• Tuesday November 14, 2017 from 9 - 11am to hear a presentation by Tony Ryan, a leading thought
leader who will address parents and the community on the topic of ‘The Art of Possibility’. This will be
held at school in the library.
• Thursday November 16, 2017 from 9 - 11am to have input in small groups about your thoughts on
the design and dreams for our school as we move forward. This will be held at school in the library.
I look forward to you participating in this process and look forward to you being here!

Our upcoming ‘Showcase of Talent’ is approaching and will be in our School Hall.
Students across the school have been working in their lunch and recess times learning various areas of
the Creative and Performing Arts ranging from choir, playing instruments, dance and visual arts.
The children have been working very hard all year and would like to invite you all to come and see their
talents. It will be a fantastic show and we all hope that you will be there. Entry into the performance is a
Gold Coin donation for each seat, collected at the door. When seats are full there will be no more
entry. First in, best dressed!
All the children are enjoying getting ready for the big day! Hope to see you all there. ☺
