Topic: monopoly behavior

What is monopoly?

A situation in which a single company or group owns all or nearly all of the market for a given type of product or service.

According to a strict academic

definition, a monopoly is a market

containing a single firm. In such

instances where a single firm holds

monopoly power, the company will

typically be forced to divest its

assets.

Advantages of monopoly

Stability of prices.

Source of revenue for the government.

Massive profits.

Disadvantages of monopolyExploitation of consumers.

Dissatisfied consumers.

Higher price.

Price discrimination.

Inferior goods and services.

Do you have any Question?

Although monopolies exist in varying degrees

due to copyrights, patents, access to

materials, exclusive technologies, or unfair

trade practices almost no firm has a

complete monopoly in the era of

globalization.
