Enacting Change – “Change”?A: what are the solutions we are promoting for climate change? B: We need to change people’s mindset. A: what is mindset? B: A belief…A: It seems to belief is a set of value system. By telling me to change my mindset, you seem to assume that you have a better set of values than I have. How would you feel if I come to tell you that you need to change your mindset because I have better values than you? B: I will feel OK because I would only analyze what you say and learn from you. A: I disagree. I think people will not be willing to accept whatever you propose. If identity is a buddle of value we identify ourselves with, then I would more likely retract and defend my view because what you are proposing is a different view which is threatening my identity. In fact, as I was speaking of all these, this may be happening now. B: But I still see that I will not retract, rather, I will analyze it and try to accept your point of view and learn from that….A: Are you feeling I am actually intentionally saying something to change what you think? B: No. I will use my rationality……

CHANGE1- Preserve Status Quo

- Assume things are going to go bad

2- Go back to a time in the past

- Assume past is better than now, - Assume when past do come to now,

it will remain in “now” rather than past.

3- Form a picture of how the world should look like in the future, and we want others all to buy into that picture.

- Assume your picture (or your capacity to form a picture) of the world is better.

So Why am I here? – A confession I am committed to the possibility of a conscious and

benevolent transition to a world where we can live together, all of us ‘face-to-face’ in a way that reflects the deep and natural interconnectedness and prior unity of our reality.

I am committed to a quality of individual and collective realization of ‘reality itself’ that is compassionate and loving.

This involves a kind of liberation from the way in which much of our collective attention has become fixed and institutionalized in the collective dream of the industrial era, its effects and our coping mechanisms.

I believe in the possibility of a sort of collective human evolution at this moment in history (and in fact you all have given me deep inspiration and hope in this regard).
