What is extensive reading?

Extensive reading is • reading as much as possible, • with pleasure, • and at the appropriate level of

difficulty.

When reading a book, we mainly focus on the meaning.

Learners are reluctant to read books because:

• Learners’ vocabulary and grammar are insufficient

• Checking up unknown words in a dictionary takes too much time

• They almost never revise the new words from the book

• Some learners dislike graded readers
