IN CASE

• in case” bir bağlaçtır ve iki cümleyi birbirine bağlar. Bir şey olma ihtimaline karşın şunu yaptım, şunu yapacağım derken “ihtimaline karşı, olursa diye” anlamlarına gelir

• Take your umbrella

in case it rains. (Yağmur yağması ihtimaline karşı şemsiyeni al.)

• I will take a notebook in case I need to take notes. (Not almaya ihtiyacım olursa diye yanıma bir defter alacağım.)

SO THAT

• “so that” bir bağlaçtır ve iki cümleyi birbirine bağlar. Bu bağlaç amaç anlatır. Bir işi neden yaptığımızı veya yapacağımızı anlatırken kullanılır. Türkçe’ye “-sın diye -ki böylelikle” olarak çevrilir.• can-could-will-would-s.present so that

ten sonra kullanılabilir.

• It’s raining. Take your umbrella so that you don’t get wet. (Yağmur yağıyor. Şemsiyeni al ki (böylelikle) ıslanmayasın)
