Qutb-Minar in red and buff stand stone is the highest tower in India. It has a diameter of 14.32 m at the base and about 2.75 m on the top with a height of 72.5 m.

• Qutub'd-Din Aibak laid the foundation in AD 1199

• All the storeys are surrounded by a projected balcony encircling the minar and supported by stone brackets, which are decorated with honey-comb design

• Numerous inscriptions in Arabic and Nagari characters in different places of the minar reveal the history of Qutub

QUWWATUL ISLAM MASJID

Sultan Qutbuddin’s mosque , Quwwatul Islam or Might of Islam, within the Qutub complex, is the earliest extend mosque in north India. Passing through the main

gateway, you find yourself standing under an intricately

carved temple ceiling with richly ornamented pillars on the both

sides.

IRON PILLAR

The Iron Pillar bears a Sanskrit inscription which

records that it was set up as a dhuaja stambha (flagpole) of a Vishnu temple of the 4th -5th

century AD.

ALAI DARWAZA

It is profusely carved with inscriptions in the Naksh script, and has other decorative details

in red sandstone and white marbel.

TOMB OF ILTUTMISH

It has inscriptions from the Qoran on its walls which have been delicately carved giving

the appearance of fine lacework in stone.

ALAI MINAR

The gigantic rubble structure to the north of Qutb Minar, this is the unfinished base of the

mammoth tower begun by Alauddin Khilji and intended

to rival the size of Qutb.

Others: US $ 5 or Indian Rs. 250/- per head

HOW TO REACH Own Vehicle: The easiest way to reach there from

India Gate is to travel towards the outer ring road. Take the Ashoka Road, and from Panchmukhi Chowk take the Man Singh Road.

Public Transport: There are special HOHO buses (Hop On Hop Off service) for tourists. Other than that there are various bus Routes that reach Mehrauli.

The following the bus routes: From Anand Vihar – 543 From Old Delhi Railway Station – 502 From Red Fort (Chandni Chowk)– 426, 417 From Noida – 34 You can also avail the Delhi Metro to reach Qutub Minar.

Take the Yellow line to reach the Qutub Minar Station, it is only a short walk from the station.
