ARTIST Han Seok HyunHan Seok Hyun attended the Korean National
University of Arts (MFA) from 2004 to 2008 and Hongik
University (BFA) from 1994 to 2001. With critical awareness of
Mother Nature and the environment, Han
pursues fusion between creative construction and ecological
practice through his art works. His explora-
tion between social science, art, and ecological engineering
results in his art works.
He is interested in expanding the concept of artificial nature,
as it for example manifests itself in such
forms as urban gardens and nature in modern human society. His
recent works seek to bring our attention
into how the society is standardizing organic organisms.
Recently he exhibits his works at MFA Boston, U.S.A. He lives in
Berlin, Germany and participates in
Knstlerhaus Bethanien Residency program. He plans to compare and
contrast the presence of nature in
the urban landscapes of Seoul and Berlin.

ARTIST Uli WestphalUli Westphal (1980, Bochum, Germany) studied
Multimedia and Environmental Art at MICA in Baltimore,
United States and Fine Arts at the AKI in Enschede, the
Netherlands. He obtained his MA (Art in Context)
from the UdK in Berlin, Germany. Westphal lives and works in
Berlin, Germany.
His works deal with the way humans perceive, depict and
transform the natural world. He is especially
interested in how misconceptions and ideologies shape our view
of nature. In recent years he has
focused on the portrayal and transformation of nature through
the food industries. His work is multidis-
ciplinary and research based, frequently consisting out of
collections, classification systems, simulations
and experimental set-ups. He exhibits internationally in
galleries and museums and has published in a
broad variety of books and magazines.
Recent solo exhibitions include Transplantation at SMBA in
Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2014),
Cornucopia at Ming Studios in Boise, Idaho, United States (2014)
and Human Nature at Odalys Galera
de Arte in Caracas, Venezuela (2013)
