THE WORLD’S FIRST PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC 4WD

1 / Engine

EV Drive Mode: Electric power only The vehicle is powered solely from electricity from the drive battery. Using no petrol, EV Mode is quiet, smooth and typically used in slow moving traffic conditions where traditional petrol engines are inefficient.

Series Hybrid Mode: Electric power + engine assistance The electric motors still power the PHEV but the electricity comes from both the drive battery and the onboard generator. This mode will activate with rapid acceleration, hill climbing or when battery charging is required.

Parallel Hybrid Mode: Engine power + motor assistance Both the electric motors and petrol engine provide power to the wheels. This mode typically occurs during high speed driving when petrol engine efficiency is high.

Energy usage indicator Power, Eco, or Charge? Know exactly what is moving you with the energy usage indicator conveniently located on the dash display.

Gear Selection Joystick The power is in your hands. Select ‘D’ and you’ll experience super smooth driving and acceleration. The joystick also allows you to choose between regenerative braking levels.

Charge and Save Mode Fuel efficiency and driving range are managed with the flick of a switch. The ‘Charge’ mode uses the engine to charge the drive battery, while the ‘Save’ mode maintains the drive battery at its current state of charge.

Outlander PHEV is here – delivering economy, comfort and performance. With super low emissions, remarkable fuel efficiency and genuine on and off-road performance, the Outlander PHEV is a drive like no other.

Powered by an electric motor and a traditional combustion engine, this hybrid offers the convenience of an electric vehicle; without compromising the range of an SUV.

The internal combustion engine (1) provides power and range and the electric motors (2), efficiency. Separately mounted at the front and rear axles, they deliver responsive 4WD performance, while the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) ensures excellent stability and handling.

Providing power in most driving conditions, the drive battery (3) is located under the floor to maximize interior space and lower the centre of gravity for improved safety and handling. Simply charged at any 15 amp power point, the battery can also be recharged while you drive. The regenerative braking system (4) uses braking energy created by the vehicle to recharge the battery, allowing longer drives on less fuel.

4WD LockWhen the road becomes slippery, press the 4WD LOCK button for improved traction and stability. This simulates locking the centre differential and proportionately distributes torque to all four wheels.

Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC) Aspire model only.

Smart Key The Smart Key gives you convenience of complete keyless operation. Recognised within 70cm from the vehicle, it allows you to lock and unlock the doors, open the tailgate and even start the engine, all with the Smart Key safely tucked in your pocket.

Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC)S-AWC is an integrated vehicle motion control system designed to improve driving stability and handling precision in all conditions. Based on the Twin Motor 4WD system, the new yaw control function regulates the brakes and distributes power to all wheels individually.

Warning: The Adaptive Cruise Control System is not a collision avoidance system or an automatic driving system. It is designed to use only limited braking and should not be substituted for general driver awareness.

Forward Collision Mitigation System (FCM) Aspire model only.

7 SRS AirbagsFront airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag help protect you and your passengers in the event of a collision.

FCM helps prevent a frontal collision or reduce damage if the collision becomes unavoidable.

Without ASC (skidding front wheels)

Active Stability Control (ASC)ASC maintains stability and control when cornering by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheels to keep you online through corners.

Warning: The Forward Collision Mitigation System is designed to help avoid or reduce the crash speed in certain frontal collisions. Under certain circumstances, the system may not detect frontal vehicles correctly and should not be substituted for general driver awareness.

Driving in pure EV mode, surrounded by the elegantly redesigned interior, makes for a serenely quiet driving experience. But when required, put your foot down and let the 2.0 litre engine kick in with a responsive roar.

Multi-information Display

The Outlander PHEV allows you to be in total control of your energy use and spend. You can enjoy zero fuel consumption and zero CO2 emissions while driving in EV mode, as well as a remarkably low combined fuel efficiency in other drive modes.

Easy Plug-in Charging A ‘refuel’ is as close as a power point. Simply plug in the onboard charger to any 15 amp power point and a full charge will be complete in 5 hours. The charging status can also be viewed on your smartphone.

Convenient charging cable storage A storage space beneath the rear cargo area floor is ideal for conveniently storing the charging cable.

PHEV display functions Energy flow and driving range information is conveniently displayed with the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS) and Multi-information Display.

Smartphone remote control Control and comfort are at your fingertips with PHEV smartphone capabilities. For that touch of comfort, you can pre-heat and pre-cool your PHEV at any time using the app. Leave the air-con running in the baking hot car park and return to a perfectly chilled interior. The cooling function is driven straight off the battery with no emissions or noise. You can also remotely control the charging timer, schedule charge during off peak periods and monitor the remaining charge time with the smartphone app.
