“Danuri Mom”, a social venture started from SungKyunKwan university’s Enactus Danuri Mom has its aim to solve the difficulties of immigrant women who settled in a Korean society in their early year: its economic problems and difficulties after child birth due to unfamiliar language and food. These days, with the increasing number of multicultural families, Korea is rapidly becoming a multicultural society. According to the 2012 investigation of a multicultural family, the number of marriage immigrants and naturalized Korean citizens are increased 31.5% compared to 2009. Moreover, the population of multicultural families gradually increased and it is predicted to become more than 2 million by 2050. Like this, Korea is becoming a multicultural society. However most of them are living with numerous difficulties in our society. Especially, 89% of the whole multicultural families are showing its low economic status lower than the average monthly income of Korea, 4 million one. With this reality, immigrant women are recognized of its need in economic activities, but most of them are remained in unprofessional jobs not using their capabilities. Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Health and care, about 84% of immigrant women give birth within its first year when they are not culturally adapted to Korean language and food. Thus, many immigrant women are suffering after child birth with segregation within a society and depression physically and mentally. For this, Danuri Mom solves both of immigrant women’s economic difficulties and problems after their birth by providing a model of multicultural post-natal care service. This multicultural post-natal care service is a model in which immigrant women who are trained to become professional care-givers by us visit immigrant mothers and provide culturally customized post-natal care. Through this, immigrant mothers can fully recover physically and mentally with stability. On the other hand, immigrant care-givers get the opportunity of economic activities being professional with their strengths and cultures. To add on, in the future we are going to let immigrant care-givers to manage our business themselves and gradually develop with the features and strengths of multi-cultures.
