It takes place during the winter and spring quarters, and includes several rounds of submissions, pitching, and modifications.

BASES 50K Social Entrepreneurship Challenge 2012

• Description & Requirements: The Social Entrepreneurship Challenge follows the structure of the e-challenge, but is focused on companies with a clear focus solving a pressing social issue. Nonprofit or for-profit companies that demonstrate scalable business ideas with quantifiable social or environmental impacts have the opportunity to win up to $50,000 in prize money. Participants have access to mentors and are invited to attend a series of workshops and networking events.

Catchment Sensitive Farming Capital Grant Scheme

• The Capital Grant Scheme is a competitive scheme based on catchment-level priorities identified in funding priority statements. Securing an agreement is therefore not guaranteed and acceptance depends on the quality of all applications. If the total amount of grant applied for by all applicants exceeds the available budget, grants will be allocated to those applications which best meet the scheme’s priorities, are within a target area and which deliver the greatest environmental benefit.

• The Wave and Tidal Energy: Research, Development and Demonstration support (WATERS2) is a funding call supporting the development of very low cost-of-energy wave and tidal devices. £6 million will be made available for this call, and we will look to maximise the number of recipients who are able to benefit from support.

Environmental Agency - SBRI

Development of Low Carbon Sustainable Pumping Systems

• The Environment Agency intends to invest up to £400,000 in projects to develop low carbon sustainable pumping. The key factors in any design are the primary energy source to be employed which should be low or non carbon and the scale of any pumping that can be achieved. It is important to understand that any sustainable pumping station design is not expected to replace the need for conventional grid or local diesel driven pumping capability. This design of pump is intended to offset the regular base load pumping of a station.
