WORLD RUN 2014
On May 4th 2014, thousands of runners set off on the
Wings for Life World Run from around the globe and
Georgia became a part of it.
100% of entire fee from the Wings for Life World Run
goesto Wings for Life, a foundation that funds
research in finding a cure for spinal cord injury.
Totally 3000 people participated in the marathon
including NGO CiDA staff members.
Run started at 14:00 by Tbilisi time from Kakheti,
Lopota Lake, 10 kilometers from the Telavi-Kvareli
highway.The winner between women became MARIELLE
CARMAGNOLLE (25 km, 34 m distance run) and
between men - ANATOLI OLEINIKOVI (52 km, 65 m
distance run)
Note: Wings for life world run is an entirely new type of event never
before seen or undertaken in either running or any other sport.
Rather than a traditional static finish line competitors will be running
from an advancing cordon of Catcher Cars. Thirty minutes after the
start signal the Catcher Cars will set off in pursuit of the runners, at a
constant speed of 15 km/h, accelerating to 16 km/h after one hour.
After two hours they will accelerate to 17 km/h, and then up to
20km/h after one hour and to 35 km/h after a further two hours. As
the Catcher Cars overtake runners their race is over.

.PROJECT JOIN HELD MEETING WITH
GEORGIAN MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE
AND FOOD REPRESENTATIVES
On May 5, project JOIN staff held meeting with the
representatives of Georgian Ministry of Agriculture and
food.
The key aim of the meeting was discussion of the
communication plan of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-
Javakheti 6 Municipalities.
Together with the aims and future plans of JOIN project a
list of the activities which should be implemented in 2014
was presented to the ministry representatives.
The project supports the information-consultation
services acting in Akhalkalaki, Bolnisi, Gardabani, Dmanisi,
Marneuli and Ninotsminda in the process of information
spreading in local population and dwellers.
The project JOIN is financed by Austrian Development Cooperation
(ADC) and is implemented by CARE Austria and CARE International
Caucasus together with the partner organizations including NG O CiDA and
CARD in Armenia.

REGIONAL PROBLEMS MEDIA TOUR ENDED
On May 1-2 and 6-7-8 NGO CiDA organized a regional media tour for theinterested journalists in the eastern and western parts of Georgia.

On May 1-2 and 6-7-8 the journalists visited Bolnisi, village Disveli, Lagodekhi,Sighnaghi, village Nukriani and Azerbaijan-Georgian border village Erisimedi,located in the eastern part of the country, as well as Tserovani IDPs district,Kvishkheti, Tskalturbo, Chiatura and Mountainous Adjara.
They had opportunity to interview local NGOs representatives, local dwellers,the village governors and the president's deputy representatives of the regionas well.
The selected journalists were able to identify the problems exciting in theregions too.

COOPERATION MEMORANDUM
BETWEEN NGO CIDA AND GIPA
SIGNED
On May 8, 2014, Executive Director of NGO CiDA Zviad
Devdariani and Rector of the Georgian Institute of Public
Affairs (GIPA) Marine Ioseliani signed a memorandum of
cooperation.
According to the memorandum, CiDA staff will have
opportunity to attend the courses conducted by GIPA,
though CiDA will give chance to the institute experts and
students to be involved in the events planned and
implemented by the NGO itself.
Besides this CiDA will accept the GIPA students and will
enable them to be voluntarily involved in ongoing projects
as.
The cooperation also includes CiDA participation in the
consultations regarding the institute's educational
programs.

TRAINING ON SOCIAL HEALTHCARE
ISSUES
On May 22-23 in 2014, NGO CiDA organized a
training Social Healthcare Issues for the organization
staff.
Totally 12 CiDA staff members attended the training.
Following important issues were discussed during the
training: general survey of Georgian Social Protection
System, HR in Social Protection System, survey of
social worker's liabilities, NGO's role in Social
Protection System, General Healthcare Program and
ongoing reforms, etc.
2-day training was conducted by a trainer of Georgian
Association of Social Workers (GASW), doctor and
MA Natia Partskhaladze.
Training is supported in the frames of Eurasian Partnership Fund
funded Organization Development Tool and is financed by USAID.

MEDIA CONTEST AWARDING
CEREMONY
On May 28, in Tbilisi at Holiday Inn Hotel, an awarding
ceremony of the media contest organized by the NGO
CiDA was held.
The contest winners become following journalists: I Prize
Tamar Kvinikadze Magazine Gza, II Prize (2
journalists) Oliko Tsiskarishvili iReporter, "Eko
Fact", Tamta Kakauridze Guria News, III Prize, 2
journalists were named either: Tinatin Osmanova
Rezonansi and Kristina Karchkhadze News.ge and
Mega TV.
Media tour took place on May 12, 6-7-8. Totally 20
journalists participated in it and visited eastern and
western parts of Georgia.
In the frames of the media tour the journalists had
opportunity to contact with R-CSN member NGOs
representatives and identify problems existing in various
Georgian regions.
As a result of the abovementioned event the journalists
prepared approximately 70 printing/radio/TV materials,
out of which 5 the best were awarded with diploma and
money award (I place GEL 800; II place GEL 500; III
place GEL 250).
Note:Media tour was organized in the frames of R-C SN project,
facilitated by NGO CiDA, supported by G-PAC program and funded byUSAID.

IN THE FRAMES OF JOING PROJECT A FORUM ON CATTLE-
BREEDING IN GEORGIA WAS HELD
On May 30, in Tbilisi, at Courtyard Marriott Hotel with the support ofthe NGO CiDA aforum under the title Cattle-breeding in Georgia-Challenges and Perspectives was held. The event was organized in theframes of JOIN project.
The forum brought together stakeholders from the government,donors, private sector, NGOs and farmers from Georgia to discussexcising challenged, share views and experience and draftrecommendations for solving the problems, which exist in the sector.
Agriculture remains the primary source of income for the majority ofGeorgia population. Cattle-breeding is one of the main directions ofthe country's economic segment which mutually with a variety offactor plays a significant role in the strengthening of agricultural areassuch as veterinary, fodder production, cattle breeding etc. Theproblems in these fields constitute a major obstacle to the sector's
development.
In order to address some of the issues described above, the forumoffered the presentations of the following topics: analysis of the cattle-breeding in compliance with the Municipal Development Plansdeveloped in the frames of JOING project; veterinary legislation andassessment of current situation; fodder production; cattle foodstandards and accessibility; Vision for Livestock Sector Development;improvement of cattle-breeding legislation and current situationanalysis; legislative aspects in the cattle-breeding improvement, thevision of Agrarian Issues Committee of Parliament of Georgia for thesector improvement. The presentations were followed by discussions.
The forum was organized in the frames of JOIN project. It is a three year initiativeimplemented by Care Osterreich and C ARE International in the Caucasus together with the
partner organizations NGO CiDAin Georgia and CARD in Armenia. JOIN is funded byAustrian Development Cooperation (AD C) through Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
