Thanks for the support from

welcome to

taipei

Dear colleagues,We are delighted to welcome you to the cosmopolitan city of Taipei for the tenth anniversary edition of IMCAS Asia. This is the first time that the island nation of Taiwan is playing host to an IMCAS congress, bringing together practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific region for informative and engaging exchanges.

There is a real emphasis on Asian preferences and particularities in all sessions, while the expert international speakers from across the globe bring a comparative approach to both invasive and non-invasive procedures. Whether your interests lie in injectables, lasers and EBD, and cosmeceuticals, or breast, body and face surgery, IMCAS Asia provides ample opportunity to learn about the latest devices, procedures and techniques in all of these areas.

Meeting and exchanging with peers and the industry is also a key part of any educational conference and IMCAS Asia does not disappoint! Join the Networking Cocktail and Gala Dinner to mingle informally with other attendees and visit all three levels of the exhibition to meet the best established and new companies in the medical aesthetic arena.

We hope you enjoy being part of this new adventure!

The IMCAS Asia Scientific Board

a message from course coordinatordr patrick po han huang

Taiwan has been the hub of East Asia since 400 years ago. When European sailors discovered the beautiful island “Ilha Formosa”, they put Taiwan on many European maps. There have been many cultural exchanges and merges in this small island, namely, Taiwanese aborigines, Dutch, Spanish, Han Chinese and Japanese. The distances from Taipei to Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Manila, and Singapore are only around three hours flight. The pivotal role of Taiwan in this area is even more important politically and economically.

Taiwanese dermatologists and plastic surgeons are well-known for their achievements in aesthetic dermatology and cosmetic surgery. There are so many well-known dermatologists giving fantastic lectures and education to enhance the standards of aesthetic dermatology in Asia and China. There are also many world-class plastic surgeons and training centers for overseas plastic surgeons in Taiwan. In addition to the great local speakers, IMCAS Asia also brings you many top key-opinion leaders from many countries.

IMCAS Asia 2016 is being delivered in English and Mandarin. All experts bring the most updated techniques, innovations and cutting-edge concepts in invasive and minimally-invasive procedures to the international attendees who are interested in Asian preferences and particularities in the real Asian aesthetic world. The Taiwanese Dermatological Association (TDA), Taiwan Society of Plastic Surgery (TSPS) and Taiwan Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (TAFPRS) are working together closely for the first ever IMCAS Asia in Taiwan.

An astonishing 65% of presentations are given by specialists from Asia-Pacific. 29% of our presentations come from our host country, Taiwan. We are privilaged to have the best specialists in aesthetic medicine from all over the world presenting at IMCAS Asia.

Although Asia is the most represented regoin, we are also welcoming speakers from the rest of the world. This allows us to create an international program serving the needs of the aesthetic medical community worldwide.

This year we received 192 abstracts for IMCAS Asia.

Out of the total abstracts received, 92 were from dermatologists making them our largest contributing group. Following were the Plastic Surgeons who submitted 60 abstracts and the rest were from other specialists. .

This year, we received 56% of the abstracts expected from dermatologists and half of those expected from plastic surgeons.

WHAT DOES ACCREDITATION MEAN?

An accreditation is a process through which an educational activity is subject to the evaluation of an accrediting organization on the following aspects:

- Quality, pertinence and transparency of the educational content- Lack of commercial influence from sponsors- The means for participants to evaluate the quality of the activity and provide a feedback

An activity that complies with these requirements receives the title of accredited. The extent of this accreditation varies depending on the accrediting organization and the country concerned.

ACCREDITATION AT IMCAS

Each of the 3 following categories is accredited differently at IMCAS:

- Physicians: CME accreditation (Continuing Medical Education)- Corporate Professionals: CPD accreditation (Continuing Professional Development)- Professional Bodies: CPD or CME accreditation (depending on the country and accrediting organization)

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR CREDITS

Physicians and professional bodiesEvaluation formAccrediting organizations require a mean in which participants can evaluate the quality of the education received and provide a feedback about the overall quality of the activity. At IMCAS, this is enacted through an evaluation form that all attendees are invited to fill in. This evaluation must be filled in to receive a certificate of attendance and to obtain an educational credit. This evaluation form needs to be filled out within 40 days following the congress.

Certificate of attendanceAfter filling out your evaluation form, you will receive your corresponding certificate of attendance. This document is the proof of your participation and the attainment of CME Credits.

Claiming your creditsOnce you receive your certificate of attendance, the next step is to claim your credits with your corresponding local medical authority. This process may vary from country to country. In order to verify the procedure applicable to yours, please check the reverse of your certificate of attendance.

Corporate professionalsCorporate professionals are equally invited to follow the same process described for physicians and professional bodies. In this case, due to accreditation regulations, the certificate of attendance is substituted with a statement from IMCAS.

IMCAS conducts educational activities, but it is also a profit-seeking business. How can this dilemma be resolved?Simply by identifying the origins of the different forms of revenue. Therefore, IMCAS welcomes funding, as long as the origins of the funds can be traced.

From our participantsThe registration fees that we charge for each of our congresses enable us to continuously improve our educational offerings in order to better fulfill your learning requirements.

From our industry supportersCompanies may financially support IMCAS in two distinct ways, depending on whether they have a direct influence on the program, individual sessions, subjects for discussion, content choice or Faculty members. It is for this reason that we highlight the difference between activities supported by sponsorship and those supported by an unrestricted educational grant (see below for details). By clearly explaining the difference between different types of financial support, all concerned parties (doctors, industry representatives, foundations, government bodies, private purpose funds, etc.) remain informed, aware and vigilant.

Unrestricted educational grantsAn unrestricted educational grant is a financial donation offered to support a specific scientific session with no exchange partnership agreement. Funds are used according to the donator’s wishes to support a specific part of the scientific program. For ethical and educational purposes, the scientific content is entirely developed by the Scientific Board, with no input from the granting company. As such, sessions supported by unrestricted edu-cational grants are eligible for CME accreditaiton.

SponsorshipSponsorship is the financial support of an activity on the terms of a mutually beneficial partnership exchange between the supporting company and IMCAS. The supporting company provides financial support for an activity such as a live demonsration, a symposium or a guest lecture and in return may present syntheses of studies or trials, practical solutions to specific patient problems and/or live demonstrations to the audience. The content of these sponsored sessions is therefore not endorsed by IMCAS.
