Profiles of the speakers

Organized by: Supported by:

Ehud Levy, General Partner, Canaan Partners, IsraelEhud gained more than two decades of expertise in the high-tech industry as an entrepreneur, investor and operator. Prior to co-founding Canaan Partners Israel, Ehud was a Managing Partner at Vertex VC. Among other successful investments, Ehud was the first to lead the investment and to identify Waze (acquired by Google for over $1 Billion) as a bright star from its start. Previously, Ehud served as Chairman and CEO of Ki-Bi Mobile Technologies. He led the business to its commercial success, an IPO in London, and eventual acquisition. Earlier, he served as COO and CFO of Telegate, where he was responsible for a restructuring plan leading to the acquisition of the company for over US$400 million. Prior to Telegate, Ehud was a private equity investor and investment banker in New York and Tel Aviv, serving on the boards of directors of several technology companies. Ehud holds a BSc in Computer Engineering (with honors) from the Technion, and an MBA from Columbia Business School, New York.

Aristos Doxiadis, General Partner, Openfund, GreeceAristos Doxiadis is General Partner at Openfund, an early-stage technology fund based in Athens. He is a pioneer of private equity in Greece, with 20 years of experience in many industries, from banking software to table grapes. Openfund is a leader in the startup ecosystem, having invested in the most dynamic recent ventures coming out of Greece. Recently he has been researching and writing on the institutional and cultural determinants of the Greek economy. His book The Invisible Rift: Institutions and Behaviors in the Greek Economy (in Greek) has been widely read and discussed. Aristos’ earlier experience includes working on anti-poverty programs for the European Commission, planning industrial policy for the Greek government, and managing consulting and auditing companies. He has a B.A. degree in social studies from Harvard University, and an M.Sc. degree in economics from Birkbeck College at the University of London.

Dr Harry Hatzakis, CEO, Biotronics3D, UKAn accidental CEO. Let me please begin with a confession: I am a CEO who was trained in business only loosely and only much later in my life; However, I fanatically remain and will remain a self-declared nerd, with profound thirst for technology innovation, and a passion for old, red Alfa Romeos, sailing and Miles Davis. I founded and co-founded a number of companies trying to create a “controlled” workbench for my crazy ideas and my “what-if” scenaria. Years later, I consider interesting that some of those crazy ideas resonated with a big part of the market and I have managed to build commercial success out of it. Good for us! But what was even better for me, was the copious amounts of adrenaline I felt in my body every time I was testing my “what-if” hypotheses for the first time. Because it is extraordinary how much you can push the boundaries of innovation if you lose your ability to sleep at nights; an experience that I feel very privileged to be part of, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Harry studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Thessaloniki, did his PhD at Imperial College and studied business at the Kellogg School, Northwestern University. He is the CEO and founder of Biotronics3D and is an NED for a number of SME technology companies. He is Entrepreneur in Residence at the Coventry University and Visiting Entrepreneur at the University of Greenwich.
