TROPARION TO THE THEOTOKOS, TONE 4.Let us sinners and humble ones run now most earnestly to the

Theotokos and let us fall down, crying out from the depths of our souls: O Sovereign Lady, having compassion on us, do help us. Make haste, for we are perishing from the multitude of transgressions. Turn not Your servants away empty-handed, for we have You as our only hope.


We who are unworthy, O Theotokos will never cease to glorify Your power. For if You did not intercede in prayer, who would have delivered us from so many dangers? Who would have preserved us free until now? We will never forsake You, O Sovereign Lady, for You always save Your servants from all evil.

KONTAKION 1, TONE 8.To you, the Champion Leader, we Your servants dedicate a feast

of victory and of thanksgiving as ones rescued out of sufferings, O Theotokos. As You have invincible power, deliver us from every danger that we may cry out to You: Rejoice, O Bride Unwedded.

IKOS 1.An archangel was sent from Heaven to say to the Theotokos:

Rejoice; And beholding You, O Lord, taking bodily form, he was amazed, and with his bodiless voice he stood crying to Her such things as these:

KONTAKION 2.Seeing Herself to be chaste, the Holy One said boldly to Gabriel:

The marvel of your speech is difficult for my soul to accept. How can you speak of a birth from a seedless conception? And she cried: Alleluia.

IKOS 2.Seeking to know knowledge that cannot be known, the Virgin

cried to the ministering one: Tell me, how can a son be born from a chaste womb? Then he spoke to Her in fear, only crying aloud thus:

+ Rejoice, Initiate of God’s secret counsel;Rejoice, Assurance of those who pray in silence; Rejoice, Beginning of Christ’s miracles; Rejoice, Crown of His dogmas;

KONTAKION 3.The Power of the Most High then overshadowed the Virgin for

conception, and showed Her fruitful womb as a sweet meadow to all who wish to reap salvation, as they sing: Alleluia.

IKOS 3.Having received God into Her womb, the Virgin hastened to

Elizabeth whose unborn babe at once recognized Her embrace, rejoiced, and with leaps of joy as songs, cried to the Theotokos:

+ Rejoice, Branch of an Unfading Sprout;Rejoice, Acquisition of Incorruptible Fruit; Rejoice, Labourer that labours for the Lover-of-Mankind; Rejoice, You Who gives birth to the Planter of our life;

КОНДАК 4.Охоплений бурею сумнівів, цнотливий Йосиф засмутився,

дивлячись на Тебе що мужа не знала, гадаючи що Тебе — Непорочна, зведено. Але ж як довідавшись про зачаття від Духа Святого, промовив: Алилуя.

ІКОС 4.Почули пастухи, як ангели оспівували тілесне пришестя

Христове й поспішили до Нього як до Пастиря, але побачили Його, як Агнця чистого, в утробі Марії випасеного, та славлячи Її взивали:

+ Радуйся, Мати Агнця й Пастиря;Радуйся, Кошаро словесних овець; Радуйся, від невидимих ворогів Захисте; Радуйся, райських дверей Відчинення;

KONTAKION 4.Having within a tempest of doubting thoughts, the chaste

Joseph was troubled, for knowing You to have no husband, he suspected a secret union, O Blameless One. But having learned that Your conception was of the Holy Spirit, he said: Alleluia.

IKOS 4.While the angels were chanting, the shepherds heard of Christ’s

coming in the flesh, and having run to the Shepherd, they beheld Him as a blameless Lamb that had been pastured in Mary’s womb, and singing to Her, they cried:

+ Rejoice, Mother of the Lamb and the Shepherd;Rejoice, Fold of rational sheep; Rejoice, Bulwark against invisible enemies; Rejoice, Opening of the gates of Paradise;

КОНДАК 5.Побачивши зорю, що йшла з волі Божої, мудреці слідом за

нею пішли і, держачись ї ї як світильника, через неї розшукали могутнього Царя, й, знайшовши Неосяжного зраділи, співаючи Йому: Алилуя.

ІКОС 5.Побачили юнаки халдейські на руках Діви Того, Хто руками

Своїми сотворив людей і, зрозумівши що це Владика, хоч і мав Він вигляд раба, поспішили дарами Йому послужити й виголосити Благословенній:

+ Радуйся, Мати Зорі незаходимої;Радуйся, Світанку таємничого дня; Радуйся, бо Ти піч омани вгасила; Радуйся, бо Ти тайновидців Святої Тройці просвіщаєш;

+ Радуйся, бо Ти лютого мучителя з начальства скинула;Радуйся, бо Ти Господа – Чоловіколюбця Христа показала; Радуйся, бо Ти від служби ідольської охороняєш; Радуйся, бо Ти від лихих учинків відхиляєш;

Babylon, having fulfilled Your prophecy; and having preached You to all as the Christ, they left Herod as a babbler who knew not how to sing: Alleluia.

IKOS 6.By shining in Egypt the light of truth, You did dispel the darkness

of falsehood; for its idols fell, O Saviour, unable to endure Your strength; and those who were delivered from them cried to the Theotokos:

KONTAKION 7.When Symeon was about to depart this world of delusion, You

were brought as a Babe to him, but You were recognized by him as Perfect God also; wherefore, marvelling at Your ineffable wisdom, he cried: Alleluia.

IKOS 7.The Creator showed us a new creation when He appeared to

us who came from Him. For He sprang from a seedless womb, and kept it incorrupt as it was, that seeing the miracle we might sing to Her, crying out:

+ Rejoice, Flower of incorruptibility;Rejoice, Crown of continence; Rejoice, You, from Whom shines the Archetype of the

resurrection; Rejoice, You, Who reveals the life of the angels;

KONTAKION 8.Having beheld a strange nativity, let us estrange ourselves from

the world and transport our minds to Heaven; for the Most High God appeared on earth as a lowly man, because He wished to draw to the heights them that cry to Him: Alleluia.

IKOS 8.Wholly present was the Inexpressible Word among those here

below, yet in no way absent from those on high; for this was a divine condescension and not a change of place, and His birth was from a God-Receiving Virgin Who heard these things:

KONTAKION 9.All the angels were amazed at the great act of Your incarnation;

for they saw the Unapproachable God as a man approachable to all, abiding with us, and hearing from all: Alleluia.

IKOS 9.We see most eloquent orators mute as fish before You, O

Theotokos; for they are at a loss to tell how You could remain a Virgin and yet give birth to a child. But we, marvelling at this mystery, cry out faithfully:

to it according to His Own promise, and He that, as God, is the Shepherd, for our sake appeared unto us as a man; for like calling unto like, as God He hears: Alleluia.

IKOS 10.A bulwark are You to virgins, and to all •who fall on their knees

at this time of terrible coronavirus, beseeching the heavenly protection of Your omophorion. In this hour of struggle of all peoples and countries of the earth against a disease that holds them in captivity; safeguard all those who lie in hospitals, all our doctors and nurses, all family members of those in our community, all those suffering and deprived of freedom in their homes, and all humanity enslaved by the disease — for the Maker of Heaven and earth prepared You, O Most Pure One, dwelt in Your womb, and taught all to call to You:

+ Rejoice, Pillar of virginity;Rejoice, Gate of salvation; Rejoice, Leader of spiritual restoration; Rejoice, Bestower of divine grace;

ІЄРЕЙ: Ще молимось за милість, життя, мир, здоров’я, спасіння, Боже завітання, прощення і відпущення гріхів рабів Божих, парафіян святого храму цього.

In this time of great peril from the coronavirus, we ask You to take under Your protection, O Mother of our God, your servants (names).

Help us, for we are infirm; feed us, for we are as strangers. You know our offenses: loosen them, according to Your will, for we have no other help but You, nor any other intercessor except You, O Mother of God; preserve and protect us unto the ages of ages. Amen.
