The classical-rock group, The East Village Opera Company
Lots of rock groups have made token attempts at incorporating elements of classical music into their sound, but The East Village Opera Company really goes all the way. They perform opera classics - Mozart, Puccini, Wagner, Verdi, etc. - at full length, and in their original languages. But the arrangements are drawn from the worlds of rock, R&B, surf and soul.
The group performs at the Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University in West Long Branch on Thursday. Here are listings for that show, and other notable New Jersey and New York concerts scheduled for the next six months.
