課程內容：課程不但教授正確及安全之熱身、伸展動作及體能訓練。並且教授傳球、三脅勢、碎步、投籃等技術。課堂上安排比賽，讓學員彼此交流，增加自信心及發揮團隊合作精神。

Content : The teaching content include warm-up exercise, extended actions, fitness training and basketball techniques. Group competition will be arranged in the class.

此計劃是讓本會3-5歲之幼兒會友在安全衛生的環境、有系統的教學內容及資深教練帶領下熟悉水性及促進自然發育。透過青年會的教學法，培養幼兒自信自我認識，建立正面的價值觀及社交機會，協助其全人發展。完成幼兒游泳獎勵計劃之泳員繼續參加青年會兒童游泳獎勵計劃，全面學習四式技術。This scheme allows our 3-5 years old members to get used to water under a safe environment with a systematic course contents guided by experienced coaches. Children will get to improve their confidence and self-understandings, establish positive value and social skills through our teaching methods, helping their all-round development. Members finishing Pre-school Swimming Award Scheme can continue to enroll in the Children Swimming Award Scheme of YMCA and further develop their skills on the 4 different strokes.

兒童游泳獎勵計劃 Children Swimming Award Scheme

此計劃的目的是鼓勵6-16歲青少年會友按部就班，及有系統地學習各種游泳技巧。透過舉辦不同級別的游泳訓練班，讓會友可在資深教練指導下，按照各階段之課程內容學習各種游泳技巧。學員在訓練班完結時，均由任教導師按其表現作出評核，以確定其晉升級別。詳情如下：The aim of this scheme is to encourage children and adolescents to learn different swimming techniques in a systematic way. Through various swimming classes, members have a chance to learn and practice different swimming technique under our professional coaches’ supervision. 2017年4 - 6月游泳班報名安排

‧ 申請者必須清楚填寫報名表上各項資料，資料不齊，本會所將未能處理有關申請。

‧ 於同一期泳班，每位申請者只可提交一張報名表（＊欲報兩班或以上除外），但可在同一報名表上根據選擇先後，

填寫兩個適合泳班（但必須清楚註明第一及第二選擇），本會所將先處理申請者的第一選擇，如未能中籤而其第二

選擇尚有餘額才會受到處理。＊（如報兩班或以上者，必須分別提交報名表，申請者必須清楚考慮所選各泳班將以

獨立抽籤進行。）

‧ 如兄弟／姊妹報同一班，只需於同一張報名表上填寫名字及附上有關費用。

‧ 除申請被拒或有關泳班取消外，已繳學費恕不退回，學費及學額亦不可轉讓他人，如參加者在特殊情況下需要轉

班（不包括與其他課程時間不配合），須於開班日期7個工作天前提出書面申請並附有關證明文件，本會所將按個

別情況酌情處理有關事宜，而轉班手續費為$100。

‧ 凡進行抽籤報名必須為本會會友，抽籤報名成功與否，已繳會費恕不退回。

‧ 參加者必須考慮所選泳班之時間及程度是否合適，申請一經接納，如因時間不合適或程度不符者，均不接受轉班

‧ 所有抽籤以單一泳班進行，故並不確保申請同一時段之泳班皆能成功。參加者申請有關課程時需考慮此變數。

April - June 2017Swimming Classes Application Arrangements

‧ All information should be written in clearly on the application form or else the procedure will not proceed.‧ Only one application form can be forwarded for any swimming class*, but a second choice can be chosen on the form (please state clearly the priority). Second choices will be assigned only when the first choice failed and there are still vacancies. (*Separate forms have to be filled in when applicants want to apply for 2 or more classes. Applicants should know clearly that each application form will be allotted separately.)

‧ Only one application form is needed if brothers/sisters want to apply for same clas. Please state the names and make sure sufficient fees are given.

‧ All courses fees are non-refundable except for cancellation or unsuccessful application, all vacancies and fees are not transferable. For any particular reasons, if a student has to change the classes (not when the time collide with other courses), the procedure have to be done at least 7 workdays earlier than the beginning of the courses and an amount of $100 is needed for handling charge.

‧ Membership fee is non-refundable for cancellation or unsuccessful application.‧ Applicants must carefully consider about if the level and the time are suitable. When the application is successful, no changing of classes would be allowed. (Please refer to the details in Swimming Badges Scheme for Children and Youth)

‧ Every application form is allotted to one swimming class only and thus we cannot guarantee successful application for 2 classes of same period. Applicants please consider this variation.

‧ Students of Swimming program in Jan - Mar 2017

‧ New students can apply on Mar 19, 2017 by first come first serve.

‧ Collection period：Feb 26 – Mar 12, 2017

‧ Document needed：Effective membership card, swimming application form, Assessment paper and must pay by Cheque.

Swimming Course Guidelines

‧ 幼兒一、二班導師比例為1：4 - 6 人，初、中、高、深造班導師比例為 1：7 - 8 人，習泳少年導師比例為1：8 - 10 人.

‧ 不同班別有不同的上課時間。幼兒一、二班上課時間為50分鐘，初、中、高、深造、習泳等為1小時。‧ 在第六或第七堂教練會為泳員進行評核。如當天未能上課，請預先通知負責同事或教練安排早一堂／下一堂進行測試.

‧ 超過 6 歲或身高超過 1.1 米之學員，請勿進入異性更衣室。‧ 所有幼兒及兒童游泳課程之費用不包括儲物櫃收費。學員如要使用儲物櫃，請到一樓接待處辦理租借手續，費用為每次$5。

‧ 每次上堂都必須攜帶泳帽及泳鏡。學員必須自備泳衣、泳鏡及所需物品，並必須於上課時穿著合適之泳衣或泳褲，除膠拖鞋外，不得穿著任何鞋履進入池面範圍。

‧ 泳班病假補堂安排- 申請病假補堂必須呈交上課當日由註冊西醫或中醫簽發之病假證明信- 補堂將安排在同一期有空位之同級泳班內進行- 所有事假、身體檢查或非緊急手術恕不作退費及補堂安排- 如需申請病假補課，請將病假證明信交到一樓接待處辦理補堂手續

‧ For Pre-school Class I & II, tutor rate is 1: 4-6, Elementary to Advanced level is 1:7-8, Young Swimmers is 1:8-10.

‧ Pre-school Class I & II are 50 minutes per lesson, Elementary to Advanced Classes are 1 hour per lesson.‧ Assessment will be given on the 6th or 7th lesson. If student is unable to attend the lesson on that day, please give prior notice to instructor or our staff for replacement of the assessment.

‧ Children aged above 6 or exceeding 1.1m in height are not allowed to enter the changing rooms of the opposite sex.

‧ Locker rental costs are not included in the course fees except adult swimming classes. Locker rental is available at the 1/F reception at $5 per session.

‧ Participants are required to prepare their own swimsuits, goggles and other necessities. Only unsoiled rubber sandals (flip-flops), other footwear are not allowed in the pool area.

‧ Swimming Class Make Up Arrangement - Make up classes would only be offered to participants who are able to provide a medicalcertificate of the date of sick leave.

- Make up classes would only be arranged within the current term where vacancies of same grade exist. - Physical examinations and non-emergency surgeries would not be accepted. - Please send the certificate of sick leave to 1/F office for arranging make up class.

Origin of the tragedy

Since the beginning of the conflict in 2011, the ongoing violence against civilians in Syria has led to millions of people dead and half the population displaced.

As of December 2016, 4.81 million Syrians have fled the country and 6.3 million people are displaced internally. Many have arrived at Europe’s Mediterranean shores despite the fact that the journey is fraught with danger in the chilling sea.

The situation in Syria presents one of the worst examples of civil massacres in history and it seems the end to this war is far from reality. In Syria, the war is not between two parties where one’s defeat will bring other side’s victory. It involves not only the local rebel groups and the Syrian government but also the interests and conspiracies of powers like Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States.

In hopes of having influence over the outcome of the war and its aftermath, multiple foreign forces with overlapping and at times conflicting agendas are involved in the Syrian civil war, which intensified the crisis.

A war with different agendas

The United States funded various armed groups fighting for the overthrow of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) and led a coalition conducting airstrikes in Iraq and Syria declaring that “Assad must go”, whereas Russia supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the survival of the regime, which is critical to maintaining Russian interests in the country.

The relationship between the Bashar government and the ISIS also goes on to complicate the situation further. Assad tolerates ISIS and instead drawing the focus on their mutual enemies - the local rebels. As long as Assad remains, so will the ISIS.

From Syria to Europe

The continuously rising numbers of refugees are expected to double Europe’s efforts in 2017 towards relocation of asylum seekers to Turkey.Refugees reaching to Europe go through dangerous routes, swim the waters, get smuggled, and for many it’s the last journey of their lives, just for a little peace that seems a longing dream in their home countries.

As long as the war continues, the world will witness more and more cruelty as the result. It is the question of how the world could bring an “Exit” sign to this entangled mess of fighting that involves multiple domestic and international actors. Let us pray that 2017 will be a year for healings and reconciliation.
