Prerequisite for NodeB Commissioning

Checking NodeB:

The hardware of the NodeB is installed and passes the installation check.

The NodeB passes a power-on status check and is powered on.

The data configuration file is ready

Checking RNC:

RNC connected to the NodeB works well.

The data of the NodeB to be commissioned has been configured in RNC

Checking M2000 (ignore if local NodeB commissioning is applied)

The adaptation layer which is corresponding to the NodeB to be commissioned is installed on

the M2000 server.

The version of the M2000 is compatible with the NodeB to be commissioned.

The transmission and remote OM channel of NodeB is operational. The NodeB to be

commissioned can be automatically detected on the M2000


Preparation for NodeB commissioning

Selecting commissioning modes

Local Commissioning

− The transmission is unavailable

− Perform NodeB commissioning on site with LMT

Remote Commissioning

− The transmission is available

− The O&M channel between RNC and NodeB works properly

− Perform NodeB commissioning remotely through M2000

Procedure of NodeB Local Commissioning

Step 1: Upgrade the NodeB software by LMT

Querying the active version of the NodeB software version

and BootROM version (LST SOFTWARE)

Downloading the BootROM software package of the NodeB

Activating the BootROM software

Downloading the software

Activating the software



Step 2: Downloading the NodeB data configuration file via LMT

The file name of the NodeB data configuration file must be

NodeBCfg.xml

After the download is finished, the NodeB will be reset auto

matically to make the configuration active.



Step 3: Checking the running state of the NodeB

Checking SNTP (simple Network Time Protocol)

Checking the status of a cell

Measuring RTWP

Monitoring the output power of the NodeB

Handling alarms during NodeB commissioning

Dial test (voice call, video call, web browsing..)

Step 4: Recording NodeB information in data sheet



Exception:

Automatic NodeB software upgrade and data configuration

file download from the USB disk are supported since

NodeB software version V200R010

So step 1 and step 2 above can be replaced by the simple

action of USB disk plugging in and plugging out



Due to the transmission being unavailable at this stage, the

OM channel is disconnected between M2000 and NodeB. So

NodeB license cannot be allocated and activated via M2000

NodeB integration hasn’t been finished.

What is required to do when the transmission is OK

Integrate NodeB into M2000

Allocate and activate NodeB license via M2000

Step 1. Automatically Searching for NodeBs



Step 2. Checking Software Version information on the server



Step 3. Uploading the NodeB Software and BootROM Software

Step 4. Creating a NodeB Commissioning Project, the NodeB commissionin

g project performs automatically on the M2000



Step 5. Viewing the NodeB commissioning progress.

Step 6. When the commissioning progress shows “Finished”, obtain the

NodeB commissioning Report



Step 7. Checking the running state of NodeB

Checking SNTP (simple Network Time Protocol)

Checking the status of a cell

− DSP LOCELL




Measuring RTWP

− If the NodeB is not connected to the antenna and feeder system or a matched load, RTWP: ~ –108 dBm.

− If the NodeB is connected to the antenna and feeder system (with TMA switched on) or a matched load, RTWP: ~ –105 dBm.

− If the services are setup, RTWP will increase several dBm (Typical: 75% Uplink Load => 6dBm increase)

Monitoring the output power of the NodeB




Handling alarms during NodeB commissioning

Dial test (voice call, video call, web browsing..)



Step 8: Initially activating the NodeB license

Uploading the NodeB license to the M2000 server

Allocating the NodeB license

Activating the NodeB license

Checking the loading of NodeB license

Querying the license distributed to a NodeB
























Activating the NodeB license: Choose: «Distribute All» After that licens

e will be uploaded in NodeBs




Checking the Loading of Licenses

License Activated status should change from False to True.

Query on the NodeB LMT the following alarms:

ALM-4020 License Configuration Error

ALM-4021 System Exceed Capacity Limit of License.

If no above alarms are reported, it is an indication that the

licenses are successfully loaded.




Querying the license distributed to a NodeB

− Execute DSP LICENSE to query the license information.
