1. What did you like and not like about the meeting?

The organization of meetings was professional, lecturers were professional and interesting. Good

time management. Activities carried out smoothly. Very good hospitality.

2. What can we do to improve the meeting next time? Please list any topics you would like to see

addressed in future meetings.

It could be helpful to have speakers who make presentations in English language instead of having

translations. For others there is nothing to be improved

3. How did you find the hotel and meeting facilities? How did they compare with previous

meetings?

The hotel and meeting place was perfect. Hotel was clean and good. Convenient to have meetings in

the same hotel.

4. Any other comments, concerns, or requests?

Social activities (like dinner) were well organized.

During the time the participants were in Rende, we consider they have developed a new vision about the

country, its people and culture. We can say that this meeting has been very productive for all partner.

Transnational Meeting within Europe reinforce the idea of an “Union” without borders and free mobility of

people and workers. Also, we saw the cultural differences between home country and the host country as

well as the differences between the health System and the way of life between Italy and others Countries.

At the end of the meeting, all participants were adapted to the country and they developed a sense of

union among them, which suggest us that the transnational Meeting has been very successful.

Italian National Health Service

In Italy, the National Health Service (NHS) is the complex of functions and welfare activities performed by regional care health services, regional bodies, national institutions and the State, to ensure the protection of health as a fundamental right of individual and collective interest, while respecting the dignity and freedom of the human person (Article 1 of Legislative Decree n. 502/1992). It was introduced by Law 833 of 1978 (the so-called "Health Reform") and replaced the previous system of state insurance founded after the Second World War.

The National Health Service is a public system of universal character, which guarantees health care to all citizens, financed through general taxation and the direct revenue, collected by local health centers, arising from health ticket (i.e. the shares in which the patient contributes to the costs ) and from pay performance. Through it is implemented art. 32 of the Italian Constitution, which enshrines the right to health of all citizens.

The aim of NHS is to create an efficient and uniform health system that safeguards the entire population regardless of income and employee contributions, employment or pre-existing health conditions. The NHS provides health care free of charge or at low cost to all residents and their families as well as university students and retirees (including those from other EU countries) and the emergency relief to tourists, regardless of their nationality.

In 1998 the NHS was divided by the INPS, and has been funded directly by central government through the tax IRAP (Regional Tax on Productive Activities) which is paid by employers to the benefit of their employees; the self-employed workers pay for themselves including taxes. Just being a resident in Italy or in an EU country to receive the same health benefits of an Italian.

Structure:

The National Health Service is not just one administration but a set of institutions andbodies that contribute to the goals of protecting the health of citizens.

It is composed as follows:

Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Policies, that has absorbed the powers of the Ministry of Health;

Several national institutions and bodies such as the Board of Health (CSS), the Superior Institute of Health (ISS), the Superior Institute for the Prevention and Safety at Work (ISPESL), the Agency for Regional Health Services (ASSR), Institutes of Scientific Shelter and Care (IRCCS), Experimental Zoo prophylactic Institutes and the Italian Agency of drug.

Regional health Services which, in turn, includes:

Regions and autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano;

Local health centers and hospital companies, through which regions andautonomous provinces provide health care.

Health Planning:The National Health Service is characterized by a system of health planning, governed byart. 1 of Legislative Decree n. 502/1992, which is:

In National Health Plan

5

Page 6: 11a.lt11a.lt/help/documents/meeting in Italy.doc  · Web viewKatia Bruno presented Health education in Italy. She described innovative and non traditional forms, methods in promoting

In Regional Health Plan

National Health Plan has a duration of three years (although it may be amended during the three years) and adopted by the Government, upon proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Policies after hearing the competent parliamentary committees, and the most representative trade union confederations, taking into account the suggestions made by the Regions. It indicates:

the priority areas for intervention, even for a progressive reduction of social and spatial inequalities in health;levels of health care to ensure for the period of validity of the Plan;the share of funding provided to the Regions for each year of the Plan and its breakdown by level of assistance;addresses aimed at guiding the National health service towards improving the quality of care, including through the implementation of transregional projects;target projects to be achieved also through the operational and functional integration of health services and social welfare services of local authorities;the overall objective and main areas of biomedical research and health care, including providing the research program;requirements relating to basic training and guidelines for the training of staff and the needs and the enhancement of human resources;guidelines and related diagnostic and therapeutic pathways in order to enhance, within each health facility, the development of methods of systematic review and evaluation of clinical and care practice and ensure the basic level of assistance;criteria and indicators for monitoring the levels of care policyholders compared with those expected.

Regional Health Plan represents the strategic plan of action to the objectives of health and functioning of services to meet the specific needs of the regional population in terms of the objectives of National health plan. Regions, within 150 days from the date of coming into force of the National Health Plan, adopt or adapt the regional health plans.

The NHS is largely controlled by Regional administration and is managed by local health authorities (Azienda di Sanità Locale / ASL - which is often known by its previous name Unità Sanitaria Locale / USL). The NHS provides hospitalization and treatment (including tests, surgery and medication during hospitalization), visits of medical practitioners, medical care of specialist pediatricians, obstetricians and other specialists, medication with discount, laboratory services, appliances, ambulance services and other free services to local health (counseling).

Criticality:

The Italian health service puts the emphasis on care rather than on prevention and treats the disease rather than promoting good health. There is not a real awareness campaign on preventive medicine, such as regular medical checks.

Furthermore, it has limited resources for patient treatment, for nursing, post-surgical and geriatric assistance, for diseases and psychiatric terminals. Inadequate treatment due to a shortage of staff and long waiting lists due to the lack of adequate hospitals leading to numerous complaints and negative reviews against the Italian health service.

Many problems are associated with inefficient bureaucracy, bad management, the general disorganization and costs rising significantly. Despite the great advances in medicine and the progress in health care in recent decades, the Italian public health service is still facing enormous problems. The reform of the health service has been the focus of intense public debates in Italy and probably there will be major changes in thenext 10 years.

THE MEDITERRANEAN DIETThe pasta is the main element of the Mediterranean diet.Once a synonym with poverty, today the Mediterranean diet means living in a healthy way. From centuries the pasta is a part of the food of humans.Even more than the bread, because unlike the bread, pasta can be considered a dish.

An equilibrated and nutritional dish!

14

Page 15: 11a.lt11a.lt/help/documents/meeting in Italy.doc  · Web viewKatia Bruno presented Health education in Italy. She described innovative and non traditional forms, methods in promoting

Food is culture!

Tradition enhanced by innovation.

This perfectly describes the legendary “Mediterranean Diet”, originally linked with the fruits of three “holy”

plants:

wheat, the olive tree and the vine.

Therefore bread, pasta, oil and wine, which form the archaic basis of the Mediterranean Diet. These

products are joined by a selection of fruit, pulses, vegetables and, to a lesser extent, fish, milk, cheese, eggs

and meat (mostly white).

But the Mediterranean Diet extends beyond food, becoming a vehicle for gratifying values which create an

all-round approach: the one of the Mediterranean Lifestyle which contemplates:

• variety, to promote consumption of different and essential nutrients;

• moderation, control of portion size has been either necessity or virtue in different periods of history;

• high consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables, legumes, fish, and with olive oil as major source of added

fat in the diet;

• seasonality: to exploit the best the nature offers during the year;

• simplicity of the recipes: which envisages short cooking times, enhancing flavours and preserving

nutrients and aromas;

• conviviality the pleasure of the time spent around the table in good company, without hurry but with

enjoyment;

• good humour which recent studies attribute, in part, to the endless properties of the ingredients of the

Mediterranean Diet;

• daily exercise, even better when carried out in contact with and relation to nature.

Mediterranean Diet PlanThe traditional Mediterranean Diet Plan is a type of diet that may help you live longer, lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, and lower your cholesterol. This style of eating includes little meat and plenty of olive oil. Compare to diet recommended by the American Heart Association, the Mediterranean food is 40% higher in fat. The diet consists mostly of grains, fruits, beans, and vegetables. On the whole the Mediterranean diet is rich in nutrients, especially the plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, cereals, grains, legumes, olives and nuts. All of these foods combined together reduce the risk of heart disease.

The concept of Mediterranean food is not about limiting the total amount of fat consumed, it is more on wise choice on the type of fat we eat. In other word the diet contains less cholesterol and more healthy fats. These healthy fats include monounsaturated fat and polyunsaturated fats which can be obtain through olive oil, walnuts, canola oil and fish. Following is a list of food eaten on a regular basis in the.

Mediterranean Diet Foods: large consumption of fruits, vegetables, potatoes, cereals, beans, seeds, nuts, and bread. olive oil is commonly used for cooking and dressings other fats such as butter and margarine should be

excluded. moderate consumption of fish but little red meat. low to moderate consumption of cheeses and yogurt. avoid processed foods and consume seasonally fresh foods eggs are consumed in low to moderate amount (1 to 4 eggs a week) wine is acceptable but in low quantities (1 - 3 glasses per day)

15

Why People Follow The Diet?

Similar to automobile, our body consists of dissimilar elements and our heart is the engine's tank. The gas we make use of keep our heart and additional body parts functional makes a difference in our routine regardless of who we are. The Mediterranean diet is considered sufficient enough to keep our body parts running in the best possible condition.

Research & Study

A lot of researchers have been interested in the health of the people who belong to the Mediterranean region. One of the most recent studies on the diet has confirmed that those who followed the Mediterranean Diet were less likely to have diseases such as cancer and also had a reduced risk for heart diseases. On the whole, group who pursued the Mediterranean diet strongly were 25% less prone to pass away throughout the study phase as compared to those who did not, suggestive of the fact that those strictly following the Mediterranean Diet Plan finish up dying later than individuals who do not.

News: The Mediterranean diet has won the prestigous Immaterial Human Heritage title from the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO.

Who We Are

ManagerZen was born as a web portal in 2001 and became an Associazione Culturale in January 2003 with

the objective of proposing an innovative and humanistic approach to the business culture.

From 2006, ManagerZen Progetti was born, and with it so was the development of business activities:

events, meetings, participation and cultural animation, seminars and workshops on managerial and

personal development with an ethical, ecological and creative approach.

More than 2,000 people visit the portal www.managerzen.com every day, and a weekly newsletter is sent

to more than 7,000 inscribers. The Cultural Association associates (of whom there are roughly 500) are

distributed over a national panorama, ensuring that ManagerZen is a reference area for both managerial

culture and innovative training.

Methods

TRAINING

Approach

Distintictive characteristics:

- training through personal experiences

- clarity

- psychophysical wellbeing

- original ingredients

- pragmatic character

- informal setting

- personalization

WHY ZEN?

ZEN calls to a self-aware behaviour, which points to the fundamental, which rises up through the absurd,

which breaks the rules… but it’s also a call to oriental disciplines, to meditation, to the spirit and to inner

force.

Other than more standard proposals (creative, leadership, team building) ManagerZen has also developed a

series of approaches based on the philosophy of oriental management: a training path which uses Zen, and

other disciplines and working contexts in western society and draws on interesting stimuli and instruments

for managers and entrepreneurs who must confront a society in continuous change, complex markets,

globalisation, competition and stress.

Traditional methods of lecture room training are used alongside a large experience-based component

through the utilisation of psychophysical disciplines.

Intellectual training in this way comes to be integrated with a larger “understanding”, which passes through

personal life, experimentation, verification and awareness of your own emotions and of your own

reactions, the meaning inter-crosses with explored abilities, those of faith, listening, empathy, fear, risk,

openness, creativity.

Across a final de-briefing, one facilitates the transferability of behaviour learnt on the course, to

professional reality and a organisational context.

The keys words in our methods are: metaphor, experience, involvement, observation, concretion, and fun.

PROJECTS

Beyond training, ManagerZen Progetti creates projects focused on wellbeing and organisational

development using various instruments and paths.

"Corporate Awareness"

Measuring the benefits of vigil meditation in the business

In collaboration with Human training by Vittorio Mascherpa.

"The Laughing Company"

The laughing club in business

In collaboration with Laura Toffolo.

“To plan in Collective Intelligence”"

Discover the power of co-creation across the magic of fairy tales

In collaboration with the Voice of Fairytales by Piera Giacconi.

"People Puzzle Project"

Getting the best from collaborators with diversity management and creative leadership.

Corporate Awareness

Measuring the benefits of careful meditation in the business.

The benefits of meditation (bettering of mnemonic capacity, attentiveness and concentration, reduction of

working stress, larger psychophysical balance) are evident with the regular practise of 20-30 minutes of

meditation, in the middle of a business structure, for a period of 8 weeks.

The course opens with a beginning seminar, which teaches meditation practises, chooses volunteers and

the leader of the meditation group: the group will therefore have autonomous practises with the periodic

supervision of ManagerZen for the 8 weeks. A series of tests will be taken before and after, which will

address the various participants and the results obtained in terms of individual performance and the

business climate.

In collaboration with Formazione Umana Globale (Human Global Training)The

The laughing club in the company

The project aims to introduce the practise of laughing therapy into business as a means of developing a

sense of humour, openness, creativity, sharing spirit, psychophysical benefits. We can re-educate our sense

of humour with the laughing yoga session, developing auto-irony, creating a climate of great openness,

faith and positivity.

The method is that of Hasya Yoga or Laughing Yoga: a discipline invented 11 years ago by the Indian doctor

Madan Kataria. Since then, around 5,000 laughing clubs have been created in 40 countries all over the

world.

The project oversees the specific training for internal trainers who enjoyed the club of laughing and helps

launch a group event to launch the initiative.

Resp: Project: Laura Toffolo

Obtaining the best from colleagues with diversity

management and creative leadership.

The project begins with the presupposition that

organisations don’t fully exploit the “potential”

already present in their personnel resources, or in

other words, within their “human capital”.

The novelty consists in a change of prospective

respecting the classic development programmes: we

are not talking about making a person grow in the

classical sense of the term, but of putting them

on the path to be able to express themselves better,

exploiting the habits, qualities and talents which

already characterise them.

The approach is that of diversity management applied to the individual person: everyone is different and

unique, and being different and unique is what we can contribute to businesses. We are talking about

recognising this uniqueness (talent) and of collecting it correctly for the maximum business productivity

and maximum personal satisfaction.

The project is structured in these phases:

1) Assessment of the expressed “talent”

2) “Creative Leadership”: training meetings

3) “The gym of talents”: periodic meetings turned to people

4) Organisational advice and coaching sessions

5) Final evaluation

In collaboration with Myriam Giangiacomo

Objective - Experimenting with the process of collective co-creation

Bringing to light the unifying business model

Creating and revisiting teams, projects and objectives to dynamise the participatory innovation

To make every member adhere to the structure and transmit their own slant within this collective identity.

Atelier Horakles of collective excellence was created under a game form in France in 2005, but is still

unpublished in Italy. It is enriched by workshops of creative writing, conscious attention, active imagination,

laughing and breathing. It will develop therefore the necessary liberty to work efficiently together: with a

perceptive affinity, learning to use the power of co-creation.

The project oversees a team building of 2 days, a follow up of a half-day, with diagnosis and a coach. The

participation is on a voluntary basis. Maximum group of 14 people.
