INTRODUCTION
Auxiliary means additional.
An additional view, besides three
principal views to give better description
of an object or some of its features.
To understand how to generate views
that shows inclined and oblique
surfaces in true shape in multi-view

TYPES OF AUXILIARY VIEWS
SINGLE AUXILIARY VIEW
1) ADJACENT TO F. V.

TYPES OF AUXILIARY VIEWS
Primary (Single) auxiliary view
technique is used to find out the true
shape of an Inclined Surface.
Secondary (Double) auxiliary view
technique is used to find out the true
shape of a Skew Surface.

SINGLE AUXILIARY VIEW
(True shape adjacent to FV)
Auxiliary plane is perpendicular to HP and inclined to VP &PP.
Auxiliary and front views have the height dimension in

SINGLE AUXILIARY VIEW
(True shape adjacent to TV)
Auxiliary plane is perpendicular to VP and inclined to HP& PP.
Auxiliary and top views have the depth dimension incommon.

SINGLE AUXILIARY VIEW
(True shape adjacent to SV)
Auxiliary plane is perpendicular to PP and inclined to HPVP.
Auxiliary and front views have the width dimension in

SINGLE AUXILIARY VIEW
From the three illustrations, it will reveal the
fact that a single auxiliary view is always
adjacent to the principal view.

SINGLE AUXILIARY STEPS
Identify the edge view of the inclined surface
and mark points in both the views.
Copy the edge view, rotate it and make it
parallel to x-y line.
From this rotated edge view, complete the other
view by aligning the edge view points with the
surface view points.
Final view should be the true shape of an
inclined surface.

A skew surface does not appear in its edge
view on any of the principal planes.
It is necessary to obtain the edge view of the
skew surface by an auxiliary projection before
its true view can be drawn by second
auxiliary projection.

DOUBLE AUXILIARY STEPS
Locate one edge of the surface which represents true
length.
Rotate the surface view so that the true length
becomes perpendicular to x-y line.
Complete the other view by aligning the points. The
result is an edge view.
Rotate the edge view and make it parallel to x-y line.
From this rotated edge view, complete the other view
by aligning the edge view points with the surface view
points.
Final view should be the true shape of an inclined
