by Colombian National Council of Science as “Technological Innovation”, and awarded by BHP Billiton as Merit in Environment Category.

7. Project: GHG reduction by recovering wasted heat for combustion air -Role: Study Manager- Duration: 9 months.

o Applied Pinch Technology in order to reduce the energy consumption.o Project outcomes: 5% of natural gas savings and reduction of 1000 ton of CO2 per year.

8. Project: Natural Gas Optimization (dryers and kilns) -Role: Back Belt- Duration: 9 months.

o Applied six sigma principles in order optimize the energy use in the processing plant.o Project outcomes: 10% of Natural Gas Savings and reduction of 5,000 ton of CO2 per year whilst increasing the

processing plant throughput.

9. Project: Electricity Optimization (Furnaces and Air Compressors) -Role: Back Belt- Duration: 14 months.

o Applied six sigma principles in order optimize the electricity usage in the processing plant.o Project outcomes: 5% of Electricity Savings, and reduction of 4,000 ton of CO2 per year.

10. Project: “Services Contracts Fusion” (Cleaning and Waste Management) -Role: Back Belt- Duration: 16 months.

o Applied Category Management principles through Six Sigma methodology in order to increase the Contractors productivity.

o Project outcomes: 30% of Cost Savings whilst decreasing contractor headcount by 40%.

Led the project: “Optimization of electricity consumption in air conditioning systems in townsite” Achieving 25% in energy savings by implementation of: scroll compressors, digital thermostats and reducing the sun load. Reduction of 100 ton of CO2 per year.

Led the project: “Retrofit T12 lamps types by T8 Lamps”, increasing energy efficiency in these devices in 15%. Reduction of 10 ton of CO2 per year.

o Assisted to the project manager in the design, installation and commissioning of a 2-MW natural gas generation set.
