BONIACORPORATION BERHADBonia Group was founded in 1974 by the Group’s Executive
Chairman, Mr. Chiang Sang Sem, as a business involved in
designing and manufacturing of leather goods for wholesale in
Singapore. In 1977, Mr Chiang attended a leather trade fair in
Europe and was inspired by the artwork of a 16th century sculptor
named Giambologna. He subsequently registered BONIA as a
brand name and launched products under the brand in Malaysia
market in 1978. BONIA opened its first boutique in Singapore in
1981, followed by its first boutique in Malaysia in 1988. In 1990,
it ventured beyond its core markets of Malaysia and Singapore to
expand to Indonesia, Hong Kong, Brunei and Taiwan. It further
expanded to the markets of Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, China and
Saudi Arabia in the year 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007 respectively.
In addition to its flagship fashion label BONIA, the Group has
successfully developed two other in-house brands, namely
SEMBONIA and CARLO RINO and co-owned the renowned
Germany brand BRAUN BüFFEL through its acquisition of 70%
equity stake in Jeco (Pte) Ltd since December 2010. The Group
also holds the license to distribute renowned international brands
such as Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Valentino Rudy, The
Saville Row Company, Pierre Cardin and Renoma.
Today, the Group owned more than 1,200 sales outlets and 185
standalone boutiques throughout the world, including countries
such as Singapore, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam,
Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Brunei, Phillipines,
Australia, Hong Kong, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The Group
engages in product design, manufacture, promotion, marketing,
distribution, wholesale, and retail of luxury leatherwear, footwear,
apparel, accessories and eyewear, for both men and women
under its in house brands as well as other international licensed
brands. The Group is also involved in investment, development,
management and rental of commercial properties and
management of food and beverage services.
The Group strives to increase brand recognition and accelerate
expansion plans on its in-house and co-owned brands by
introducing new line of products, not only in Malaysia but also
other regional markets. The Group’s focus is to expand in overseas
markets by leveraging on existing network as well as venturing in
new markets in the coming years.

5 November 2015, Malaysia- BONIA showcased its Spring/Summer 2016 collection that tells the legend of Picasso and meets the perfect balance of sophistication with a whiff of fun at the 2nd edition of Malaysia Fashion Week, attracting groups of media and consumers. BONIA was also presented with the Exhibitor of the Year 2015 award by Mercedes-Benz STYLO Asia Fashion Week for its ingenuous portable booth at FACIT@INTRADE. Presenting its Sonia collection and Sophia leather goods as well as men’s bags, footwear and timepieces, its booth has won the attention of thousands.

Our position as one of the leaders in designing, manufacturing, marketing and
distribution of fashionable leather goods and apparel brings with it many Corporate
Social Responsibilities (CSR). We believe that a firm commitment to CSR activities
forms the basis of good corporate citizenship and promotes good corporate
governance. The Group’s CSR activities during the financial year encompassed
the workplace, the community, the environment and the marketplace.
THE WORkPLACEWe value our people as the most important asset in helping us to attain the group’s objectives. With
a constantly growing workforce, it is imperative that we continue to invest in our staff to meet the

kNOW sAFETy, NO FIRE
13 April 2016, Malaysia – The Group’s staff welfare club, Ikon Club
invited a professional orator from Kuala Lumpur to give a Fire Prevention
Talk for employees of Bonia Group. The talk shared about knowledge
of fire prevention such as the possibilities of fire causes and the correct
method of using fire extinguisher. The objective was to create awareness
among the employees about the importance of fire prevention.
TRAININg sEssION AT BONIA INDONEsIA
24 May 2016, Indonesia – The employees of BONIA including
merchandisers, marketing personnel and front liners attended to the
3-day training session, which led by the BONIA’s trainer, at BONIA
headquarter in Jakarta, Indonesia. The training session aims to improve
the product and leather care knowledge, brand’s value and service’s core
value, in order to bring a better shopping experience to the customer.

RETIREmENT sCHEmE TALk
21 June 2016, Malaysia – Ikon Club invited certified Financial Planner
Great Vision Group to hold a Personal Financial Planning and Private
Retirement Scheme (PRS) Talk for the Bonia Group’s employees. The
talk provides the employees with knowledge and information about
how PRS works to help individuals accumulate savings for retirement.
THE ENvIRONmENTThe group continues implementing environment
sustainability initiatives by practicing recycling
programs and make efforts to reduce the carbon
emissions, maximization of energy and water
efficiency in all the Group’s business processes.
ECO INITIATIvEsAs part of ‘Go Green’ strategy, all the air-conditioned offices in the Group adjusted the temperature from the standard 23°C to 25°C, reduce unnecessary printing, reduce quantity of lightings and using energy savings LED light bulbs, as well as incorporating low-flow water valves.
ECO PRODUCTsOne of the Group’s core brands BONIA took in the eco-friendly green leather, created the eco-elegant ‘Brianna’ collection and adopted the eco-friendly concept into its luxury brand. Green leather is made of high quality raw leather, natural oils and vegetable dyes.

LOvELy DAy IN THE ORPHANAgE
7 May 2016, Malaysia – Initiated by Ikon Club, 14 staffs from Bonia
Group embarked on a visit to an orphanage home named Rumah
Charis located in Puchong, Selangor. Bonia Group donated electrical
appliances to the orphanage home. The children enjoyed happy
breakfast with kids’ favorite McDonald’s Happy Meal. Interactive and
fun games were also held, creating a joyful day to the children.
A LIFEsAvINg ACTIvITy
6 June 2016, Malaysia – Blood donation activity was held at Ikon
Connaught on 6 June 2016, offering an opportunity for the employees
to help those in need and still, maintaining good health by donating
their bloods, which is a plus for the meaningful campaign. Organised
by Ikon Club, the activity was attended by 41 registered donors.
sUPPORT THE HOPE OF mALAysIA
23 July 2016, Malaysia – Bonia Corporation Berhad sponsored
RM3,000 to HOPE worldwide Malaysia, an international non-profit
and non-religious organisation, benefitted 16 underprivileged children
aged 6 to 8, as a funding to a reading program undertakes by the

THE mOsT CHARITABLE gALA DINNER
26 August 2016, Malaysia – Bonia Corporation Berhad contributed
RM20,000 to Malaysian AEON Foundation during their 12th Charity
Gala Dinner 2016. The event was held at One World Hotel, Malaysia,
with the aim to raise fund for helping underprivileged children in
education and medical treatment. Our Group Managing Director
Datuk Albert Chiang, who is also the Organizing Chairperson of the
event was invited to give a speech.
