    A Report on State Level Conference for CA Students held at Trivandrum

    Two days State Level Conference for CA Students Horizon- Enlightening the knowledge

    was hosted by the Trivandrum Branch of SICASA of ICAI in association with the Trivandrum Branch of

    SIRC which was organized by Board of Studies, ICAI on the 3rd

    and 4th

    August, 2013 at Alakapuri

    Auditorium, Trivandrum. The programme was a grand success with 450 plus CA students attendingfrom across India.

    The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Prasanth Nair, IAS, Director of

    Employment and Training (also Managing Director, Kerala Academy for Skills and Excellence) in the

    presence of CA Babu Abraham Kallivayalil (Program Director and Central Council Member), CA

    Jomon K George (SIRC Member), CA Subbiah (One of the Founder members of Trivandrum Branch),

    Padmashree CA TN Manoharan (Past President of ICAI), CA Sekhizzar (SICASA Chairman), CA Hari C

    (Chairman of Trivandrum Branch of SIRC) and CA Revathy Raja (Chairman of Trivandrum Branch of

    SICASA). The Chief Guest touched upon the necessity and importance of audit and the role of

    students. The other dignitaries in their address wished all the best for the conference and showered

    their blessings.

    After the Inaugural Session there was a Special session followed by technical sessions. The

    special session was handled by Padmashree CA TN Manoharan on Motivation and strategies for

    success which got a loud applause and appreciation from the students. There were five Technical

    Sessions during the two days Conference on following topics.

    1. CA Ramanujam on Audit report with emphasis on new reporting formats and consequencesof non compliance of SAs. The faculty being a young Chartered Accountant could vibe well

    with the students.

    2. CA Chetan D Dalal on Forensic Audit and Fraud Detection. The topic, though new tostudents, was well appreciated

    3. CA M P Vijay Kumar on Accounting Standards and its non compliance consequences. Thefaculty, being an experienced one, could take the students in his hands and take them to a

    different level.

    4. CA Raj Seckhar on Data control, security and use of Excel. The experience of the faculty wasvery much appreciated and it was really a learning experience for the students.

    5. CA Dr Girish Ahuja on International Transaction and Transfer Pricing. This was the lastsession of the program and he took them to an unimaginable level. The students really

    learned how to learn Income Tax.

    There were seven student speakers during the conference and one among them was chosen

    as the best presenter. Student queries were appropriately addressed by the eminent speakers.

    To compliment to the occasion, the 1st day evening of the conference was made colourful by

    cultural eve (followed by dinner) which was splendid and extravagant. In the stage, various CA

    students displayed their talents in dance, music, skits etc.

    The event was marked as an exceptional one and was a grand success. It was covered by

    media coverage like Asianet News, ACV etc. The event created history as far as Trivandrum Branch

    was concerned as it became the largest gathering of CA students in Trivandrum. This was made

    possible by the efforts put in by the SICASA team and also the Committee members of the

    Trivandrum Branch.
