CEO, Deportare Partners

He was born in Hiroshima in 1978.First Japanese sprinter to win a medal in a track event at a World Competition. Current

Japanese record holder for Men’s 400 meter hurdle (as of July 2019).Currently focusing on collaboration between sports

and technology as Representative Director of Deportare Partners (Founded 2018). Director of Shin-Toyosu Brillia Running

Stadium. Author of “Hashiru Tetsugaku (Philosophy for Running)“, “Akirameru Chikara (Power to Give Up).

Yoshiharu Ueki

Representative Director, Chairman, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd.

He was born in Kyoto in 1952. He has graduated Civil Aviation College in 1975 and joined JAL as a Pilot. He has spent

most of his carrier in cockpit of DC-10 and B747-400. He has experienced Executive Vice President in J-Air Co. Ltd,

General Manager in Flight Operation Division, Senior Managing Executive Officer in Managing Division Route

Marketing and then appointed to Representative Director, President in 2012 and Representative Director, Chairman in

2018. As the first CEO appointed from Pilot, he has shown strong leadership to inspire employees and it leads to a

success of the JAL’s recovery from bankruptcy.

Scott Callon CEO, Ichigo Asset Management

He is CEO of Ichigo Asset Management, a Japanese engagement investor. He is also the Chairman of Ichigo (2337),

a Japanese sustainable infrastructure company that is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section and is a

member of the JPX-Nikkei 400. Ichigo is the sponsor of Ichigo Office REIT (8975), Ichigo Hotel REIT (3463), and

Ichigo Green (9282), and the operator of forty-one solar power plants across Japan. He has served on a number of

Japanese government bodies, including the Financial Services Agency (FSA) Council of Experts that drafted Japan’s

Corporate Governance Code and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Competitiveness and

Incentive Structures for Sustainable Growth Project (“Ito Review”). He is one of three judges for the Tokyo Stock

Exchange’s annual Corporate Value Improvement Award, awarded to Japan’s top company in corporate value

creation. Previously, he was Head of Equities, Morgan Stanley Japan; Chairman of the Foreign Securities Council of

the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA); and CEO of PCA Asset Management of the UK Prudential

Group.He graduated in 1986 from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University (summa cum laude) and has a

Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University. He is the author of Divided Sun: MITI and the Breakdown of

Japanese High-Tech Industrial Policy, 1975-1993, winner of the Arisawa Prize.

Seiichiro Uchi

Managing Director, Head of Japan Index & ESG Coverage, MSCI INC.

He is Managing Director of MSCI based in Japan, leading MSCI’s index and ESG business. He joined MSCI in 2010.

Prior to joining MSCI, he worked for S&P Index Services as a head of index marketing for Asia Pacific. He is a

frequent speaker at pension/investment conferences. He contributed various articles regarding benchmarks and asset

management to the industry publications. He is also an advisor to WE EMPOWER JAPAN organized by European

Union and UN Women. He received BA in Law from Waseda University, and received Masters Degree in Finance

from Waseda Graduate School of Finance.

Visiting Professor, Waseda University

He is Visiting Professor with Waseda University Graduate School of Accountancy, thereby teaching and making

research on Corporate Governance, Financial Strategy and Investor Relations. As for academic career, he was

granted Ph.D. in economics from Kyoto University, Japan. He also obtained MBA with distinction from

Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management, Arizona, USA. In connection with corporate value

enhancement activities in Japan, he has been acting as one of the drafting members of METI’s “Ito Review”

(Japanese version of Kay Review), writing himself about the famous “ROE 8% guideline” with evidence and

advising TSE on corporate disclosure and governance whereby involved in improvement of earnings guidance

system and IFRS adoption and disclosure. In addition, he has been conducting circa 200 meeting per annum with

global investors for the last 15 years (About 3,000 meetings in the aggregate) throughout his career with UBS as

Executive Director (a specialist in corporate governance in Japan) and Eisai as CFO (current full-time

occupation). According to Institutional Investor, he was selected as the BEST CFO in Japan’s healthcare sector by

buy-side voting 2016, 2017, and 2019. He has authored and published many books and theses on Corporate

Governance, Corporate Finance, and Investor Relations in Japan as well. His major published books are below;

Shoei Yamana President and CEO, Konica Minolta, Inc.

He started his career at Minolta Camera Co. in 1977. After being involved in developing markets in emerging

countries, overseas sales in the United Kingdom, and corporate strategy, he served as CEO of the acquired printer

company in the U.S. After returning from the U.S., he promoted the integration of Konica and Minolta as Executive

Officer, in charge of corporate strategy and business technologies business. Since the merger in 2003, he served as

Senior Executive Officer (in charge of corporate strategy), President of Konica Minolta Business Technologies,

Inc, and Senior Managing Executive Officer (in charge of business technologies business) and has served as current

position since April 2014. Since his appointment as President of Konica Minolta Inc., he has been playing a strong

leadership role to transform Konica Minolta to become a "Digital company with insight into implicit challenges"

that supports the evolution of business and human societies.
