    Laptop ‘thief’ apologie! a"# $et%$"! &i!!i"g 'o&p%te$

    A business woman who accidentally took a laptop containing an important

    unfnished novel has apologized and fnally returned the computer.

     Thirty-year-old-manager elen !oode put her own laptop on the luggage rack above

    her seat on the 1"#3$ train %rom &ondon to 'dinburgh. (n the seat ne)t to hers was

    the well-known author *rs Tara +enn. er laptop was also on the luggage rack.

    ,hen *s !oode le%t the train at &eeds she took the wrong laptop. *rs +enn realized

    the mistake immediately. he shouted a%ter the woman but it was too late. *s

    !oode didn/t hear and the train le%t the station.

    *rs +enn contacted the train manager and he called the police who soon identifed

    *s !oode %rom her seat reservation. owever when they tried to contact her she

    didn/t reply. A%ter two weeks they sent a letter saying they would prosecute her i% 

    she didn/t return the laptop.

    0n%ortunately *s !oode was on holiday in the aribbean %or a %ortnight so she

    didn/t open the laptop or realize it wasn/t hers. ,hen she returned she received the

    letter and immediately contacted the police. he apologized to *rs +enn and

    returned the computer. *rs +enn is delighted that she can now complete her novel.
