    9. Support and Technical Back Up

Dialynas SA is provided with regular technical support and training from Orencos

designers, engineers and service technicians. Orencos extensive knowledge can be relied

upon should a performance based problem develop at either treatment plant. Dialynas SA

operates a subsidiary company to undertake servicing and maintenance of its many

installations. This company will be responsible for the operation of the systems during any

defects liability period and for any contracted operation period.

    Emergency Callouts

Included in the design of our wastewater treatment plants is storage of wastewater

flows for approximately 24 hours. The storage volumes are based on peak daily flows and

are above the high level alarm levels. In order to provide a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week

emergency response capability, we usually arrange for our local agent to attend any

    emergency call out situations.

    Remote Telemetry Management and Monitoring

Much of the monitoring and control of each wastewater treatment plant will be

carried out remotely using telemetry features built into the programmable control panel. The

Orenco Systems microprocessor-based controller in the panel integrates with standard

control panel components (motor contactors, etc.) and provides digital and analogue

sensor inputs as well as a two-way dialup function via a modem. This means that the

Service Company maintaining the system can receive remote alarm callouts. For example

a high level alarm could trigger the system to call the Service Company office, or a pager.

The system can then be checked remotely from the office to simplify troubleshooting, and

facilitate accurate analysis and reduce costly call outs.

System elements can also be controlled remotely (e.g. pumps turned on/off) allowing

quick response and early preventative maintenance. This could involve reprogramming the

control panel remotely to by-pass a float switch until a local contractor can be sent out to

    attend the situation.

  • 29

Standard logging and trending of data are also possible. Any type of event log can

be captured and stored or programmed to trigger an alarm event. This includes pump run-

times, high-level alarms, low-level alarms, daily effluent flows, pipe or orifice pressures,

    oxidation-reduction potential.

Data can be stored for several years depending on input volume and report

requirements. Reports can be viewed remotely or downloaded into common data

management programmes (e.g. Microsoft Excel) for manipulation. The data can be

electronically forwarded to the relevant consent/regulatory authorities.

The RTU panel aids remote troubleshooting and monitoring for better maintenance

    and operational efficiency.
