Around the world, the aerospace industryis undergoing massive shifts, and our

response in Canada our ability to

stay ahead of the curve, transform our

processes and maintain standards of

excellence in our people, products and

services will be vital to our success on

the world stage.

Having completed the federal Aerospace Review, we are now working with ourpartners in government, academia and other stakeholder groups to ensure thatits recommendations are implemented. In this way, we continue to move forward,positioning the Canadian aerospace industry to take advantage of changing globalrealities and maintain the leadership we have shown for many years.

Innovation, transformation and excellence are also crucial to the AIAC as anorganization. The AIACs mission is to enhance the international competitivenessof the Canadian aerospace industry through cooperative efforts among ourmember companies and by direct contact with governments. At home, this meanssupporting our members through service and advocacy. On the internationalstage, we are working with aerospace sectors in other countries to build bridgesand create new partnerships and opportunities for business and collaboration.We strive to be a modern association able to respond to the challenges of anever-changing aerospace and space world.

Our five key priorities reflect these objectives:

At the core of these priorities is our ongoing commitment to serving ourmembers. By advocating on our members behalf, promoting their interestsand seeking to facilitate new business and networking opportunities, the AIAChas supported and promoted its members for over 50 years. This commitmentcontinues to drive all that we do.

This Guide to Canadas Aerospace Industryis one of the services we offer to ourmembers. The Guide is made available to decision-makers and industry insidersin Canada and around the world at global conferences and events. It is alsoavailable as an interactive electronic document or a downloadable PDF on ourwebsite. Through all of these venues, the Guide serves as a means of providingcontact information for our members and publicly highlighting their products,services and expertise.

The AIAC is the national trade associationrepresenting the interests of more than700 Canadian aerospace manufacturingand service companies serving the globalaerospace market in the commercial, defenceand space segments. Governments, business

and the media look to the AIAC as theauthoritative source for information on thecomposition and performance of Canadasaerospace industry, its challenges and itsopportunities.

The AIAC strives to build a businessand investment climate in which Canadianaerospace companies can continue to growand compete on the world stage. HelpingCanadian aerospace companies win businessat home and abroad is the raison dtre of the

AIAC. To achieve its goals, the associationworks in close collaboration with industrystakeholders, governments, universities andcolleges, and labour organizations. The AIACviews its members as active contributorsand works with them in developing andsuccessfully advancing meaningful solutions

to critical issues facing the aerospace industry.Its primary focus is public policy advocacy tofurther aerospace programs and initiativeswithin Canada and ensure open access tomarkets at home and abroad.

The AIAC advocates on behalf of Canadian

aerospace companies looking to developnew and innovative technologies, buildthese technologies into market-relevantapplications, and finance their sales tocustomers. Through their AIAC membership,aerospace and space companies who arelooking to increase their competitiveness andprosperity are able to engage in business-to-business activities and opportunities to shapegovernment policies and programs.

designed to foster a full appreciation of thecontribution that Canadas aerospace industrymakes to the economic wellbeing of thecountry, to the social fabric of communitiesacross the nation, and to the safety andsecurity of Canadians.

Message from the ChairOver the past several years, there has been

a great deal of discussion and dialogue

within Canadian aerospace when it comes

to the future of our industry and its place in

the world. Global forecasts have indicatedsignificant, sustained growth in demand

for aircraft in the coming decades, and

changing trends in aerospace on the

global level are affecting the way we do

business today. As the North continues

to open up, our space sector will be at

the heart of developing new technologiesto keep Canada secure and help all of us communicate in a global

environment. We have challenged ourselves and our partners to

critically evaluate how these global transformations will affect our

industry and what we as Canadian aerospace companies can do to

make the most of the changes that are coming.

The Aerospace Review, under the leadership of the Honourable David Emerson,has been critical to guiding us through this taking stock process. Overthe course of 2012, representatives of all parts of the Canadian aerospaceindustry formed working groups that discussed issues critical to the growthand competitiveness of Canadas aerospace industry on the world stage. OnNovember 29, 2012, the Emerson Report was released in two volumes: Beyondthe Horizon: Canadas Interests and Future in Aerospace and Reaching Higher:Canadas Interests and Future in Space.

The Emerson Report now forms the cornerstone of what we believe must be theway forward for aerospace in Canada. The government indicated its agreementwhen it acted on several of the most critical recommendations including supportfor SADI and the creation of a technology demonstrator program by supportingthem in the 2013 Economic Action Plan. As we move forward, the AIAC andthe Canadian aerospace industry will continue to work very closely with their



partners government and others to ensure that the recommendations containedin the Report are implemented. In Mr. Emersons words, These broad globaldevelopments are transformative. They mean more opportunities, but also morerisks... If Canadian companies, academic and research institutions, unions, andgovernments are clear-eyed and resolute in navigating these emerging conditions,the sector can emerge stronger.

We are proud of what the Canadian industry has accomplished and the leadershipit continues to demonstrate on the world stage. We agree with Mr. Emerson

that there is great opportunity awaiting us. As an industry, we are committed totaking the steps necessary to ensure not only that Canadian aerospace companiesare competitive, but that we remain a global aerospace leader known for theexcellence of our workforce and the quality of our products and services.

As the national voice of the aerospace industry, the AIAC has ably representedCanadian aerospace companies to governments, leaders and industry insidersboth at home and abroad for over 50 years. Through its leadership and advocacy,it has a vital role to play in the industrys continued development. AIAC members

have the unique opportunity to directly influence the crucial policy decisions thatwill influence their future and the future of the aerospace industry in Canada.

lchelle internationale. Alors que le Nordcanadien poursuit son ouverture, notre secteur spatial va se trouver au

cur de llaboration de nouvelles technologies qui visent garantir la

scurit du Canada et permettre tous de mieux communiquer dans un

environnement international. Avec nos partenaires, nous nous sommes

Le Rapport Emerson constitue dsormais la pierre angulaire de ce que nousconsidrons comme tant la marche suivre pour larospatiale au Canada.



Le gouvernement a fait part de son accord lorsquil a mis en uvre plusieurs des

recommandations les plus importantes, y compris le soutien apport lISAD etla cration dun programme de dmonstrateurs technologiques, en les soutenantdans le Plan daction conomique de 2013. LAIAC et lindustrie arospatialecanadienne vont continuer travailler en troite collaboration avec leurs partenairesgouvernementaux et autres pour sassurer que les recommandations figurant dansle Rapport soient bien mises en oeuvre. La nouvelle donne lchelle mondialecomporte un pouvoir de transformation. Elle cre davantage de possibilits, maisaussi davantage de risques... Si les entreprises, les tablissements denseignementsuprieur et de recherche, les syndicats et les gouvernements font preuve dediscernement et de dtermination en voluant dans cette nouvelle conjecture, lesecteur pourra en ressortir plus fort , a crit M. Canadas world-class aerospace and space industries make important contributionsto our economy while supporting high-skilled jobs across the country. Theaerspace and space industries generate mre tan $22 billin in annual revenues,export 80 percent of their output, are among the most research-intensive industriesin Canada and are responsible for 170,000 jobs.

Although the numbers are significant, our government recognizes these industriesface challenges within a changing business environment. To be a global leaderwe need to stay ahead of the curve. Innovation, ideas and ingenuity are what willmatter in tomorrows economy. Innovation is the best way for Canada to competewith countries around the world and to create jobs here at home.

Economic Action Plan 2013 demonstrates our governments commitment tote aerspace and space industries wit stable funding f nearl $1 billin verfive years to the Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative, the creation of anAerospace Technology Demonstration Program and the launch of consultations forthe creation of a National Aerospace Research and Technology Network. We willcontinue to explore other ways to enhance the competitiveness of the Canadianaerospace and space industries.



The Government of Canada and the AIAC continue to have a strong partnership as

we both strive to create jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for the aerospaceand space industries and for Canadians.

Nous continueronsen outre explorer dautres moyens damliorer la comptitivit des industriescanadiennes de larospatiale et de lespace.
