Head Coach - John Wagner, Point Pleasant BeachIn only two seasons at Point Beach, Wagner has led the Garnet Gulls to unprecedented heights
following a Hall of Fame stint as the head coach at Roselle Park from 1981-2005. In the 2012 season,Point Beach set the single-season school record for wins in finishing 10-1 and becamethe first team in school history to start 10-0. The Garnet Gulls also won the Class B Central crown for their first division title since
1997. In addition, they won a state playoff game for the second straight season afterhaving only won one NJSIAA playoff game in program history before Wagner’sarrival. In his first season in 2011, Point Beach tied the existing school record ofeight wins and won its first state playoff game since 1982. The Garnet Gulls also produced the Shore Conference’s leading
rusher, senior Danny Tighe, who rolled up a school-record 1,569yards and 25 touchdowns in Point Beach’s Wing-T offense. PointBeach has gone 18-4 in two seasons under Wagner after not
having had a winning season since 1997.During his time at Roselle Park, Wagner’s teams went 150-92-2, including a pair of 11-0
seasons and NJSIAA North Jersey II Group I titles in 1992 and 1993. The Panthers also wonnine Mountain Valley Conference division titles and made nine state playoff appearancesoverall. Wagner has already been inducted into the NJSIAA Hall of Fame as well as the NewJersey Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Roselle Park for five years before getting
the head job. He also was a highly-successful softball coach there for 17 years and servedas the athletic director. Wagner is a 1969 graduate of Roselle Park, where he played center and
defensive end under the late Joe Gardi, who went on to be a defensivecoordinator for the New York Jets in the 1980s and the head coach atHofstra University in the 1990s. Wagner played baseball at KeanUniversity, where he graduated in 1975.

Head Coach - Greg LaCava, Colts NeckIn his fourth year as the head coach at Colts Neck, LaCava guided the Cougars to their best season in
program history in 2012. They finished 9-2, setting a schoolrecord for wins, and also reached the Central Jersey Group IVsemifinals after registering their second NJSIAA playoffvictory in program history and the first since 2000. Theyalso won their first home playoff game in school historyand picked up their first win ever over LaCava’s almamater, perennial power Middletown South.LaCava’s teams have gone 20-22 in his tenure
at Colts Neck, which started in 2009. He has acareer record of 34-58 after having previouslyserved as the head coach at Allentown from 1999-2003. LaCava began his coaching career as an
assistant at Middletown South. He coached for the Eagles from 1988-93 when theywon NJSIAA sectional titles in 1989, 1990 and 1992 and finished ranked in the nationwith teams that included Shore Conference legends Stephen Pitts and former NFLlinemen Jason and Christian Peter. LaCava went on to coach one year at Raritan under former Middletown South head
coach Bob Generelli, then served as the defensive coordinator at Long Branch for twoseasons before taking the Allentown job. From 2005-07, he was the offensivecoordinator at Manchester, and then he was an assistant at Colts Neck for one seasonbefore being elevated to the head job. LaCava is a 1987 Middletown South graduate who played running back for the Eagles.
He went on to play at James Madison University before an injury ended his playingcareer, and he finished at Kean University, graduating in 1991.

huck Donohue Sr.The best coach in Southern
Regional history, Donohue Sr. is one of onlythree active Shore Conference coaches withmore than 200 career victories and one ofonly six in history.
He has a career record of 226-151-4 in 39years at four different programs and is the firstcoach in state history to lead four differentteams to NJSIAA sectional finals. During hisstint at Southern from 1998 to the present, hehas a career record of 87-68 and led theRams to their only NJSIAA sectional finalappearance in 2008 and 2012. In 2011, he ledSouthern to its first division title since 1972and just the second in program history. UnderDonohue, the Rams have made seven of theirnine state playoff appearances in schoolhistory.
In 2008, heled Southern to aschool-record 10wins with a teamled by currentPenn Statelinebacker GlennCarson. The Ramsare coming off a 9-3
season in 2012 in whichthey reached the inaugural South
Jersey Group V championship gamebefore falling to undefeated Williamstown.
Donohue began his head coaching career atSt. Joseph’s-Hammonton, where his teams went44-20-1 from 1974-80, winning the South JerseyParochial B title in 1977 and reaching thechampionship game in 1980. They made fourtotal playoff appearances under Donohue and

15also won two Cape-Atlantic League divisiontitles.
From 1981-85, Donohue was the head coachat Haddon Heights, finishing 26-20-1 in that stintand leading the Garnets to the South JerseyGroup II final in 1985. He then became the headcoach at Buena from 1986-97, where his teamswent 69-43-2, finishing 11-0 and winning theSouth Jersey Group II title in 1988. The Chiefsalso won two Cape-Atlantic League Division titlesduring Donohue’s tenure and reached the stateplayoffs five times.
Donohue was also inducted into the SouthJersey Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
Joe Martucci
The greatest coach in Matawan’s illustrioushistory, Martucci racked up a career record of197-91-1 in 27 seasons with the Huskies. Histeams won five NJSIAA sectional titles, tied forthe third-most of any head coach in ShoreConference history.
Matawan also captured nine Shore Conferencedivision titles during Martucci’s tenure. TheHuskies finished undefeated in 1988 for the firstof Martucci’s five titles, which also included 1991,1992, 2009 and in his final season in 2011. His1988 and 2009 teams tied the school record with11 wins. Also Matawan’s athletic director,Martucci retired from his administrative positionin 2012 and is now the running backs coach atKean University, where he earned a master’sdegree in supervision and administration in 1980.
Martucci began his 40-year high schoolcoaching career as an assistant at St. John
Vianney for one season before serving as anassistant and then the head coach at Matawanfor the remainder of his tenure. He is the all-timewins leader at Matawan, having passed his oldcoach, Barry Rizzo, who was inducted into theShore Football Coaches Foundation Hall ofFame in 2009.
In his final season in 2011, the Huskiesstunned Rumson-Fair Haven 3-0 to win theirsecond Central Jersey Group II title in threeseasons in their third straight appearance in thefinals. Martucci’s teams were 5-1 overall inNJSIAA championship games and reached thestate playoffs in 18 of his 27 seasons. He alsocoached several Shore Conference greats,including former NFL players Jay Bellamy andCharlie Rogers.
Martucci is a 1968 Matawan graduate who wasan all-state linebacker under Rizzo and went onto play linebacker at the University ofConnecticut, where he graduated in 1972. Hethen served as an assistant under Rizzo for 11seasons before taking over as head coach in1984.
He also is a member of the New JerseyFootball Coaches Hall of Fame, where he wasenshrined in 2011.
The group of Ron Emmert, BobStrangia and George Jeck is beinginducted for their contributions as coachesand also as broadcasters and promoters ofShore Conference football. Also beinginducted for his contributions is Ken Turp,who broadcasted Shore Conference footballgames on the radio and on local cabletelevision for 29 years.
Ron Emmert was the head coach atSouthern from 1972-1986 after having previouslybeen an assistant for the Rams for eight yearsand at Lacey for three seasons. He led Southernto the Shore Conference Class C title in 1972 forthe program’s first division title and its onlydivision crown until 2011. He was named thePress of Atlantic City Coach of the Year in 1981.A member of the Southern Regional Athletic Hallof Fame, he also served as a broadcaster forcoverage of Shore Conference football onChannel 8 in Ocean County for five years andcoached in five Gridiron Classics when it wasthen known as the All-Shore Classic.
Bob Strangia had a tremendous run as thehead coach at Red Bank Regional for six yearsafter having served as the head coach atDickinson and an assistant at Snyder in JerseyCity for a total of six seasons. Strangia led theBucs to three undefeated seasons, includingtheir only NJSIAA sectional title since thecreation of the state playoffs in 1974.
In 1975, Red Bank beat Hightstown 46-44 inone of the greatest championship games in NewJersey history to win the Central Jersey Group IIchampionship. Red Bank also won the RutgersCup in 1971 as a Central Jersey champion, andStrangia earned Coach of the Year honors threetimes from local media. Strangia also served asa broadcaster for Channel 8 for 11 editions of theAll-Shore Classic and worked five state finals fortelevision as well.
George Jeck was the head coach at TomsRiver East for eight seasons after having beenan assistant under the legendary Warren Wolf for14 years at Brick. He led the Raiders to a shareof the Class A South title in 1982 and also ledthem to their only NJSIAA sectional finalappearance in school history when they lost 17-0to Brick in the South Jersey Group IVchampionship game in 1981. He also coached infive All-Shore Classics for Ocean County andserved as a broadcaster doing ShoreConference football for Channel 8 for 18 years,which included broadcasting five All-ShoreClassics.
Ken Turp promoted Shore Conferencefootball on three radio stations and two localcable stations in Ocean County over the courseof 29 years. He was the play-by-play broadcasterfor 19 straight All-Shore Classics and did colorcommentary on the “Game of the Week’’broadcasts in Ocean County. Turp also had aregular phone-in show on WOBM radio, andserved as the play-by-play announcer on theradio for the inaugural North-South All-StarClassic in 1979. He also broadcasted 10 NJSIAAchampionship games, including two at the formerGiants Stadium.

1978 - Ocean 21, Monmouth 7Highlights: Toms River South’s George Scribellito picked off an errant lateral in the fourthquarter to seal the inaugural All Shore Classic.
1979 - Monmouth 7, Ocean 6Highlights: Neptune’s Bob Lubischer hit Howell’s Vinnie Zambetti with a 35-yard touchdownpass in the second quarter, and Monmouth held on as Ocean scored with 15 seconds left inthe game but failed on a two-point conversion attempt.
1980 - Ocean 15, Monmouth 10Highlights: Southern’s Cliff Walters scored on a 2-yard run and threw a 45-yard touchdownpass to Toms River North’s Cal Cassidy to put Ocean back in control of the series, 2-1.
1981 - Monmouth 22, Ocean 16Highlights: Monmouth wiped out a 9-0 deficit behind 147 yards rushing on 21 carries byAsbury Park’s Doug Johnson, including a 25-yard touchdown run. Howell’s Randy Radeckithrew a 45-yard scoring pass to Manasquan’s Tony Fleming near the end of the first half.
1982 - Ocean 17, Monmouth 16Highlights: Toms River South’s Tom Forrester threw touchdown passes to teammate BrianBienkowski and Point Boro’s Carlo Colombino, and Toms River South’s Jeff Lawton booted a35-yard field goal to help Ocean hold off Monmouth. In the loss, Manasquan’s EverettMorgan nailed a 35-yard field goal and was just short on a potentially game-winning 45-yard attempt as time expired.
1983 - Monmouth 19, Ocean 0Highlights: Middletown North running back Chris Barnes scored two touchdowns, Wall’s ArtPetracco ran for 120 yards and a touchdown, and Long Branch defensive lineman KeithFarrow led a Monmouth defense that earned the first shutout in Classic history by limitingOcean to just 37 yards rushing.
1984 - Ocean 7, Monmouth 0Highlights: Monsignor Donovan’s Rob Gould scored on a 3-yard run with 6:10 left in thegame as Ocean earned its first shutout victory in the series.
1985 - Monmouth 14, Ocean 12Highlights: Monmouth built a 14-0 lead and held on for the win on the strength of therunning of Matawan’s Terry Underwood and the passing of Rumson-Fair Haven’s PeteGraham. Southern’s Mike Grant threw for 225 yards in the loss for Ocean.
1986 - Monmouth 22, Ocean 9Highlights: Behind a Classic-record 161 yards rushing by Freehold’s Joe “The Jet’’Henderson that included touchdown runs of 44 and 63 yards, Monmouth took a 5-4 lead inthe series and became the first team to win back-to-back games.
1987 - Ocean 22, Monmouth 20Highlights: The Jackson Memorial combination of quarterback Tom Tarver and tight endSteve Carr clicked on a 10-yard scoring pass with three seconds left in regulation for thegame-winning touchdown to even series at five apiece.
1988 - Monmouth 28, Ocean 7Highlights: Freehold Township quarterback Brian Gilbert triggered a 21-point third quarterwith a five-yard touchdown run that was followed by an 85-yard interception return for atouchdown by Matawan’s Eric Bellamy to help Monmouth roll to the win.
1989 - Ocean 23, Monmouth 18Highlights: Brick’s Todd Durkin threw touchdown passes to Lacey’s Carl Tarricone and Toms RiverSouth’s Chip LaBarca Jr. to help even the series at six. LaBarca finished with six catches for 119yards in the win, and St. John Vianney’s Gil Gutierrez kicked a Classic-record 52-yard field goal.
1990 - Ocean 22, Monmouth 21Highlights: Brick kicker Kurt Weiboldt tied Gutierrez’s record with a 52-yard field goal andkicked a Classic-record three field goals in the win, including the game-winner from 28yards with no time remaining to give Ocean its first two-game winning streak in the series.Lacey running back Keith Elias added 147 yards rushing and a touchdown catch.
1991 - Monmouth 15, Ocean 14Highlights: A 10-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter from Neptune’s Bruce Pugh and atwo-point conversion run by Ocean Township’s Doug Rossback put Monmouth over the top.
1992 - Monmouth 20, Ocean 0Highlights: Middletown North quarterback Mike Hallard ran for an 11-yard touchdown andthrew a 19-yard touchdown pass to James Stanton to help Monmouth roll to the win.Monmouth defensive tackle Ty Watkins and end Choppy Taylor led a defense that limitedOcean to a Classic-record minus-20 yards rushing.
1993 - Ocean 20, Monmouth 18Highlights: Toms River South’s Chris Pagano blocked a 50-yard field goal attempt by Monmouthon the final play of the game as Ocean evened the series at eight apiece. Toms River Eastquarterback Alex Zarrillo had three second-half touchdown passes, two to Mike Citta.
1994 - Monmouth 36, Ocean 0Highlights: Ocean Township’s Eddie Conti fired touchdown passes to Middletown South’s MattCuccia and Holmdel’s Brian Carpenito during a 29-point first half in the most lop-sided win inClassic history. Cuccia finished with six catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
1995 - Monmouth 16, Ocean 9Highlights: Matawan’s Charlie Rogers ran for 117 yards and a touchdown, MiddletownSouth’s Jeff Martin added a touchdown and Raritan’s Frank Aresta kicked a 46-yard fieldgoal as Monmouth opened up a 16-0 lead in the fourth quarter.
1996 - Ocean 10, Monmouth 3Highlights: Toms River North quarterback Ron Sermarini threw an 8-yard touchdown pass toPoint Beach’s Dan Frangione in the first quarter en route to breaking Monmouth’s two-game winning streak. Interceptions by Lakewood’s Greg Porzio and Toms River North’s DocRose helped stop Monmouth’s attack.
1997 - Ocean 15, Monmouth 13Highlights: Second-half touchdowns by Brick’s Will Bell and Demetrius Dunn overcame a 7-0 halftime deficit to help Ocean tie the series at 10-10.
1998 - Monmouth 27, Ocean 13Highlights: Red Bank running back Eric McCoo rushed for 105 yards and scored a Classic-record three touchdowns, one on a 60-yard punt return, to lift Monmouth to an 11-10advantage in the series. Brick Memorial’s Shawn Murray had a Classic-record 98-yardinterception return for a touchdown in the loss for Ocean.
1999 - Monmouth 21, Ocean 20Highlights: Marlboro defensive lineman Dan Klecko blocked an extra-point attempt with 27seconds left in the game to give Monmouth the win after Ocean had scored on a touchdownpass by Toms River South’s Bill Rankin to teammate Torey Morris.
2000 - Monmouth 23, Ocean 0Highlights: Long Branch’s David Rodriguez threw for touchdowns of 24 and 30 yards, andRaritan’s Glenn Nicholl threw for 100 yards in the first half as Monmouth put together the firstthree-game winning streak in the history of the game.

2007 - Ocean 11, Monmouth 10Highlights: Toms River East quarterback Jared Morris scored from four yards out on fourthdown in the fourth quarter to help end Monmouth’s four-game unbeaten streak in the 30thgame of the series.
2008 - Ocean 27, Monmouth 20Highlights: Ocean won its second straight game as Brick wide receiver Kurt Loftus had aClassic-record 70-yard punt return for a touchdown for a 27-13 lead in the third quarter.Lacey quarterback Warren Smith ran for a 4-yard touchdown and also threw a 34-yardtouchdown pass to Toms River North’s Adam Carey. Rumson wide receiver Ryan Kirchnerhad a pair of touchdown catches in the loss for Monmouth.
2009 - Monmouth 30, Ocean 13Highlights: Manalapan running back Jimmy Gilburn ran for touchdowns of one yard and 49yards, and Asbury Park defensive back Will Johnson had a 55-yard interception return fora touchdown as Monmouth ended a three-game winless streak against Ocean with aconvincing victory at Brick. Freehold quarterback Nick Tyson threw for a game-high 116yards, including a 36-yard touchdown pass to Freehold teammate Brandon Brown, whohad six catches for 78 yards. Middletown North's Dylan Maresca added a 25-yard fieldgoal for Monmouth. Chris Castronuova, the first Jackson Liberty player to ever participatein the Classic, had a 20-yard touchdown catch in the loss for Ocean. Lacey's JustinPandorf also had a 6-yard touchdown run for Ocean.
2010 - Monmouth 12, Ocean 10Highlights: A 42-yard touchdown pass from St. John Vianney’s Joe Carlucci to Long Branchwide receiver Ezra Kelly midway through the fourth quarter gave Monmouth County acomeback victory. Howell wideout Phil Adamo added a 14-yard touchdown catch fromteammate Jimmy Ryan in the first quarter that was set up by a forced fumble by MiddletownSouth defensive end Nick Bricker. Toms River South’s Rob Whitfield had an 83-yard kickoffreturn that set up a touchdown run by Toms River East’s Nico Steriti in the loss. Laceydefensive lineman Mike Stuppiello added three tackles for a loss and a sack for Ocean.
2011 - Ocean 6, Monmouth 3Highlights: A 22-yard field goal by Lacey’s Jarrod Molzon snapped a 3-3 tie with 7:39 left in thegame to send Ocean County to victory in the lowest-scoring Gridiron Classic since 2001. Laceyhead coach Lou Vircillo picked up his third win as a head coach in the Gridiron Classic, secondbehind only fellow Hall of Famer Warren Wolf. Ocean’s defense held Monmouth to 105 totalyards, and Lacey linebacker Brian Mykoliw had an interception that set up Molzon’s winningfield goal. Toms River East punter Joey Clarizio was named Ocean’s defensive MVP, while Laceyquarterback Craig Cicardo earned offensive MVP honors. Keyport defensive tackle Greg Velascowon the defensive MVP for Monmouth, and Rumson-Fair Haven quarterback Mike Villapianowas named offensive MVP.
2012 - Monmouth 28, Ocean 7Highlights: St. John Vianney quarterback Anthony Carlucci went 5-for-6 for 91 yards andthrew two touchdown passes to earn offensive MVP honors in Monmouth’s victory.Manalapan running back John Sieczkowski ran for 100 yards and a touchdown on 18carries in the win, and Red Bank’s Tyheem Crawford and St. John Vianney’s Anthony Panteeach had touchdown catches.
