    b) total interest paid over the period. [ 3 marks ]

    3. The demand equation for the product of a company is given by

Wherepis the price ( in RM) and qis the quantity of the product.

    a) Find the revenue function. [ 2 marks ]

    b) Determine the value of qat which the total revenue is maximised. [ 2 marks ]

    c) What price should the company charge for the product to maximise revenue ?

    4. A furniture manufacturer produces tables, sofas and chairs. The profits per item are RM 50,

    RM 60, RM 20 respectively.

The following table shows the initial tableau for the maximisation of total profits, P. The

variable, represent the number of tables, sofas and chairs to be produced per

    week.

    Basis P Solution

    P 1 -50 -60 -20 0 0 0 0

    0 5 10 3 1 0 0 500

    0 1 3 1 0 1 0 200

    0 2 0 1 0 0 1 180

    a) Based on the initial tableau given, formulate the linear programming model to determine

the number of tables, sofas and chairs that should be produced per week in order to

    maximize the total profit.

    [ 4 marks ]

    b) Construct the subsequent tableaus until the optimal solution is obtained.

    [ 6 marks ]

    c) Hence, state the number of tables, sofas and chairs that should be produced per week in

order to maximize the total profit. State also the maximum profit.[2 marks ]
