cœur même de la Côte d’Azur, entre Nice et

offers the infinite diversity of its flavours amid the spicy

Shopping in the city streets, lunch in the sun or a romantic

dinner, exploring picturesque little hinterland villages,

sipping a drink on a bustling terrace, sport on the beach

and in the water, a visit to Marineland, Europe’s top marine

park with its sea lions, dolphins, killer whales and sharks,

nightlife renowned the world over and cosmopolitan clientele

attracted by the unique atmosphere; everything is accessible

to visitors. Plus, for those who love to tease Lady Luck, L’Eden

Antibes Juan-les-Pins is also a City of the Arts, in all their

modernity and diversity. It features many museums. The

Picasso Museum, the first one dedicated to the artist in his

lifetime, houses an exceptional collection of creations he

made in Antibes, along with works by the likes of Nicolas

de Staël and Hans Hartung. The Peynet Museum is

dedicated to another artist who adopted Antibes,

Raymond Peynet, who created the famous lovers. Other

interesting tours include the Fort Carré, a remarkable

defensive complex that evolved over the centuries and was

completed by Vauban, the Archaeology Museum which dis-

plays remains of the ancient Greek and Roman town of

Antipolis found on land and in the sea, the Napoleon

Museum and its collections evoking the career of the

Emperor who had once lived in Antibes with his family when

he was still General Bonaparte, Musée de la Tour and its folk

art, along with the Postcard Museum (Musée de la Carte

Postale) and the Bains-Douches exhibition area.

Shopping dans les rues de la ville, déjeuners de soleil oudîners romantiques, découverte des pittoresques petitsvillages de l’arrière-pays, “drink” aux terrasses animées,jeux de la plage et sports nautiques, visite à Marineland,premier zoo marin d’Europe avec ses otaries, ses dau-phins, ses orques et ses requins, vie nocturne célèbredans le monde entier et clientèle cosmopolite, séduitepar une ambiance unique, rien qui ne s’offre au visiteur.Sans oublier, pour ceux qui aiment tenter leur chance,l’Eden Casino, la Siesta et leurs plaisirs tentateurs...

Antibes Juan-les-Pins est aussi cité des arts, dans toute

leur diversité et leur modernité. Elle abrite de

nombreux musées : le Musée Picasso, le premier consa-

cré à l'artiste de son vivant, abrite une collection excep-

tionnelle de ses œuvres réalisées à Antibes, mais aussi

de celles de Nicolas de Staël ou encore de Hans

Hartung. Le musée Peynet et du dessin humoristique

offre au visiteur les œuvres d'un autre Antibois d'adoption,

Raymond Peynet, créateur des célèbres amoureux. A

inscrire également au programme de vos visites le Fort-

Carré, remarquable ensemble défensif élaboré au fil

des siècles et parachevé par Vauban, le musée

d’archéologie, gardien des vestiges terrestres et sous-

marins de l'antique Antipolis grecque et romaine, le

musée napoléonien et ses collections évoquant la geste

de l'empereur venu installer sa famille à Antibes alors

qu'il n'était encore que le général Bonaparte, le musée

de la Tour et des traditions populaires, ainsi que le

musée de la Carte Postale et l’espace d’exposition des

“Bains-Douches”.

En matière d’activité touristique, la plaisance est incon-

testablement l’un des grands atouts de la Côte d’Azur.

Plus grand port de plaisance et d'affaires d'Europe par

le tonnage de ses bateaux et sa technologie avancée, le

port Vauban, inauguré en 1971, s’est vu décerner par le

jury européen de la Fondation pour l'Education à

l'Environnement l'un des douze premiers pavillons

bleus des ports de l'Europe et reste, avec son quai des

Milliardaires, l’un des “Must” en la matière, à même

d’accueillir les plus grosses et les plus belles unités du

monde. A quelques encablures, à l’entrée du mythique

cap d’Antibes, le port Gallice, distingué lui aussi par un

La nature en majesté

Pavillon bleu, embrasse la baie de Juan-les-Pins, capitale

internationale et mythique d’une certaine “fureur de

vivre”, avec ses nombreux palaces.

Un littoral et des fonds sous-marins préservés, une

faune et une flore protégées, des jardins et espaces

verts au service des habitants, de véritables poumons

de verdure sauvegardés au Cap d’Antibes, à la Garoupe,

à la Valmasque, ou bien encore au Fort Carré… La

nature est ici en majesté et accessible à tous, ce

qu’attestent entre autres la création d’un sentier littoral

sous-marin dans la baie de Juan, ou encore

l’aménagement du sentier piétonnier de Tire-Poil, qui

longe le cap d’Antibes, l’un des plus célèbres de la Côte,

avec ses somptueuses propriétés noyées dans une

végétation luxuriante. Parmi elles, la villa Eilenroc, véri-

table conservatoire végétal, offre aux visiteurs ses onze

hectares et sa roseraie, où s’épanouissent les fragrances

et les essences de milliers de roses créées à Antibes

Juan-les-Pins.

With the seaas its horizonIn terms of tourist activity, yachting is unquestionably one of

the French Riviera’s main assets. The largest yachting and

business harbour in Europe for the tonnage of its boats and

its advanced technology, Port Vauban, inaugurated in 1971,

received one of the first twelve ‘Blue Flags’ awarded by the

Environmental Education Foundation for European ports.

With its Billionaires’ Wharf (Quai des Milliardaires), it remains

a MUST in the region, able to accommodate the world’s

Les souffleurs de verre

Joyau médiéval perché au milieu d’un écrin de verdu-

re, idéalement situé à l’est d’Antibes, Biot a su préser-

ver une qualité de vie et une identité héritée de

l’histoire. Se promener à travers Biot, ses rues et

ruelles est un véritable voyage à remonter le temps.

Fief des Templiers puis des chevaliers de Malte, recons-

truit en 1470 et préservé depuis cette époque, le vil-

lage offre son architecture aux voûtes si particulières,

aux portes fortifiées et pierres gravées…

Célèbre par ses poteries (la « Poterie Provençale » reste

dépositaire d’un savoir-faire ancestral), Biot s’est aussi fait

connaître du monde entier par ses artisans verriers. Sous

l'impulsion d'Eloi Monod, à l’origine de la tradition bio-

toise du verre soufflé, à travers aussi la venue d’artistes

tels Fernand Léger, dont le musée se dresse au pied du

village, un véritable centre artistique s’est ainsi créé, qui

voit céramistes et orfèvres contribuer au rayonnement

des métiers d’art du feu et de la terre, de la joaillerie et

des arts plastiques. Des personnalités comme le céra-

miste Jean-Paul Van Lith ou le créateur verrier Jean-

Claude Novaro véhiculent à travers leurs créations

l’image de Biot aux quatre coins du monde. Au détour

d’une ruelle se dévoilent des productions variées et

colorées, des pièces uniques et parfois insolites. Capitale

du verre et fer de lance de la création contemporaine,

Biot attire désormais ateliers d’artistes, ferronniers d’art,

maroquiniers stylistes, peintres, couteliers, photographes,

sérigraphes, antiquaires, sculpteurs et des artisans spécia-

lisés dans l’Art de la table.

The narrow streets bear witness to the village’s rich histo-

rical past, Biot having been a stronghold first of the

1470, and preserved ever since, Biot’s architecture offers

men. It was the impetus of Eloi Monod, who was behind

the origins of Biot glass blowing, and through visiting

at the bottom of the village, that a real artistic centre has

been created, showing ceramists and goldsmiths contribu-

ting to the influence of artistic trades covering fire, earth,

jewellery and plastic artwork.

Personalities such as the ceramist Jean-Paul Van Lith or

glass creator Jean-Claude Novaro have managed to

vehicle the image of Biot around the world. A look into

any alley will reveal a variety coloured objects as well as

unique and sometimes unusual creations. Glass capital

Située entre Cannes et Antibes Juan les Pins, la ville de VallaurisGolfe-Juan a une particularité géographique : elle est constituéede deux parties distantes de deux kilomètres : Vallauris, àl’intérieur des terres, village de tradition céramique et Golfe-Juan,station balnéaire aux plages de sable fin.

L’installation de Picasso en 1948 dans la cité des potiersmarque les “Arts du feu” d’une empreinte originale et contri-bue largement au renouveau de cette activité. Aujourd’hui, la tradition céramique se perpétue avec talent,artistes et artisans se côtoient pour offrir aux visiteurs unegrande diversité allant de la pièce unique aux arts de la table.Vallauris bénéficie à ce titre du label “Ville et Métiers d’Art”Des expositions de renom y sont régulièrement organisées,comme la Biennale Internationale de CéramiqueContemporaine. Les visiteurs peuvent également admirer l’œuvre de Picasso“la Guerre et la Paix”, œuvre monumentale dans la chapelledu château, devenu Musée National, ainsi que l’Homme auMouton, statue en bronze réalisée par l’artiste en 1943,offerte à la ville et installée au centre de la place du marché.

Humble bourgade de pêcheurs, Golfe-Juan est entrée dansl’histoire le 1er mars 1815, lorsque Napoléon, évadé de l’îled’Elbe, y débarque pour reconquérir la France. Golfe-Juanmarque le point de départ de la légendaire Route Napoléon(RN85). La baie de Golfe-Juan, lovée entre le Cap d’Antibes et laCroisette, à quelques encablures des îles de Lérins a, de toustemps, été considérée comme une des plus sûres et desmieux abritées de tout le littoral méditerranéen. Elle offredes plages de sable fin et deux ports de plaisance où com-merces et terrasses permettent aux promeneurs de trèsagréables flâneries. Chaque année en juillet, le “Festival JeanMarais” accueille de grands noms du théâtre et de la varié-té. Ces spectacles sont organisés au Théâtre de la Mer, éga-lement nommé “Jean Marais” en hommage au célèbreacteur. Lui aussi trouva paix et harmonie à Vallauris où unmusée présente une partie de son œuvre.

Golfe-Juanrepresents the starting point of the legendary “Route Napoléon”(the RN85).The bay of Golfe-Juan, nestled between the Cap d’Antibes andthe Croisette, a short distance from the Lérins Islands, wasalways considered one of the safest and best sheltered of theentire Mediterranean coast. Golfe-Juan offers fine sandy beachesand two leisure ports where shops and terraces combine toallow very agreeable walks. Every year in July the “Jean MaraisFestival” welcomes great names from variety and theatre.
