The biggest reason for Phuket’s success as a tourist destination is the diversity of beautiful beaches and wonderful small islands. It is on the western side of the island that most beaches are (Andaman Sea) Mai Khao Beach in the north to Nai Harn Beach in the south. The most popular beaches are Patong, Kata, Karon and Kamala Beach, more about the other beaches.

Mai Khao Beach is one of the last large undeveloped beaches on the west coast. All water activities such as scooters, parachutes and banana boats are banned! This also applies to chairs. A beautiful natural beach which stretches for several kilometers on Phuket’s northern part. Great accommodation among other, Marriott Hotel. Be prepared to some noice from the nearby airport which is lo-cated close.

Nai Yang Beach is one of Phuket’s most charming beaches. Nai Yang Beach is located on Phuket’s northwest coast. It is both elon-gated and wide and framed by forests with tall casuarina trees. It feels a bit like leaving the tourist island behind when you come here. But it is, after all, not too quietly. A lot of restaurants, tailors and small boutiques have sprung up over the last ten years. At the beach, you can sit down in the shade and enjoy the good food. And in the small village, you can treat yourself to a relaxing foot or body massage at an affordable price.

Nai Thon Beach Beyond the tourist track is the tranquil beach of Nai Thon Beach, perfect for relaxing, swimming and quiet dinners with your feet in the sand. Despite the fact that Phuket is today one of Thailand’s biggest tourist magnets there are still hidden beach paradise that attracts by the feeling of originality, tranquility and total relaxation. Nai Thon Beach is one of the locals’ favorites. There are a handful of small hotels, but the beach still provides an unaffected impression. It is not very long, it takes about 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other.

Bang Tao Beach stretches for about six kilometers long and varies from fine to more coarse-grained sand. The service is the best in the south, while there are fewer people on the northern part of the beach. On the northern end of the beach you will find the best snorkeling waters. Enclosures in the water makes swimming safe for jetskis mm. which makes the child friendly. However, it is not very shallow, just after a few meters, the water reaching to the waist.

Surin Beach Many Thais comes here to relax during the weekend. There is great snorkeling and when hunger calls sold local snacks and fruit from small food carts. The small village center is home to many of the Muslim minority population. There is both a mosque and a lively market to bargain hunting. If you are looking for a change from Surin Beach, you should definitely join one of the excursions. This is the family-friendly walking distance from the beach.

Laem Sing Beach A favorite of many and the car park is often full during the peak season. The beach is one of the most beautiful on Phuket if you do not mind a beach with many sunbeds. The beach is divided in two parts, the south with a lot of rocks in the water, the north has the best bath. The southern part is best for snorkeling. Is sandwiched between the well-known strändera Surin and Kamala in the north to the south.

Kamala Beach Kamala Beach is Phuket’s 4th largest beach and is wedged between Surin and Patong Beach. The beach is about 2 kilometers long and consists mostly of beautiful fine sand. Many families find their way here for the tranquility that prevails. Shallow beach. The northern part of the beach is best suited for snorkeling. Nightlife in Kamala belongs to the more subdued but nice restaurants are plentiful. Everything from easy tables on the beach to various places inside Kamala where you will find cheaper eateries serving western and tasty Thai food.

Patong Beach The most popular and busiest beach. Close to shopping, nightlife and nice restau-rants.

Paradise Beach 150 meters beach south of Patong. With the scooter, passing Merlin Beach Resort, continues up a hill through the woods. Where the road ends begins Paradise Beach. Per-sonal watercraft are prohibited on the beach and is a great spot for snorkeling.Nui Beach is most easily reached by boat from Kata. A really nice beach that offers a calmness of the ordinary. The grandiose nature makes it easy to forget time and space. For those who like to snorkel there are beautiful coral and crystal clear water makes the experience complete.

Freedom Beach. This is one of the finest beaches of Phuket, only 250 meters long, but the sand is white and fine and the water is clear with beautiful corals. The beach is located between Pa-tong and relatively tranquil Karon Beach. Just a year ago, it was only accessible by boat Freedom, which made it exclusive with few visitors. Today there is a road to the beach for both motorcycle and car traffic, which led to a little more found their way here, but it is far from crowded.

Karon Beach You can choose accommodation in the categories Close to everything, Peace & Quiet, Cheap & Good and De Luxe. Karon Beach is both broad and elongated and therefore never feels overcrowded. It is filled with white coral sand but not very shallow. Just steps away is the beach restaurants with fragrant Thai and immande cold drinks. In the center of Karon are lots of restaurants, bars and shops. In the evenings, you will find new ventures to try and do you want to continue shopping, you can stroll for hours among all market stalls and shops.

Kata Beach Charming Kata Beach has a beautiful long sandy beach and several high class hotel, maybe that’s why so many visitors return year after year. And more people are discovering Kata Beach even in low season. Kata has it all, activities, shopping, dining and entertainment options. And then of course the lovely beach, 2 kilometers long, wide and golden. The actual center is located in the northern end of Kata Beach, there is a relatively large range of restaurants and small shops. Do you want to eat more adventurous, try food from one of the small stands along the road through the Kata Beach, here you eat good, locally and very cheaply.

Nai Harn Beach is one of Phuket’s finest beaches. The beach is in a protected bay between Kata and Phuket’s southernmost tip, beneath a Buddhist monastery, Samnak Song Nai Harn, who owns the land has blocked all attempts to turn the area into a new Patong). The beach is long and big enough to not feel crowded. The water is crystal clear and hold about 28 degrees year round. The food from the restaurants is good and the prices are reasonable. There is not much for shopping, more than what you need for a day on the beach.

KARON BEACHThe beachKaron Beach can be compared to Patong but slightly smaller and over all, more calm. It is sparser between sunbeds and umbrellas and fewer bars and restaurants. The beach stretches about 3 kilometers long with lovely fine sand. Bitwise shallow with an abrupt transition to the deep! During peak season, many people find theit way to Karon Beach without it being crowded. Have you however, found your favorite place at the beach, during high sea-son Dec - March it´s wise to pre-book deck chair to the next day. 2 loungers + umbrella approximately 200 Bath / day. Strong undercurrents can occur, especially during the low season until November and after April.

RestaurantsThere are some restaurants strategically placed along the entire beach. There is everything from drink, ice cream and fresh fruit. For those who feel more hungry, it is not far, either on the beach or to a nearby restaurant which you can reach after a short walk. There are restaurants for all tastes!

ShoppingIf you have not managed to fill your shopping quota already on the beach from one of the beach vendors (they sell everything from toys to clothing and fine fabrics) then it may be appropriate to visit the center of Karon. There, the small shops with street sellers stalls. You can bargain hunt everything from electronics to jeans. Just like in the rest of the country you are expected to haggle. But never bargain on an item you do not intend to buy. Have the seller accepted your price is seen as impolite not to make the purchase.

ActionsKaron Beach is one of the most popular beaches. Here are all within easy reach. Water Activities with jetski, banana boat and parachute flight on the active. Anyone looking for further peace moves to one of the nearby islands with a långtailbåt. For those who want to be kneaded for one hour or two, it is not far to a masseur. You will find brand copies at most of the beaches, but if you’re looking for original or electronics, you have to head to the large shopping centers.

Golf aroundPHUKETGolf arrived in Thailand for more than 100 years ago and today there are over 250 courses throughout the country, of which 8 are located in Phuket. Most of them are of high international standard with a nice layout in a spectac-ular scenery with tropical vegetation. Some of the courses also provide ac-commodation which makes it perfect to combine golf trip with swimming and sunbathing on one of Phuket’s beautiful beaches.

That most travelers comes to Phuket to enjoy the sun, sea and nature is no doubt about that. If you have interest in golf and get the opportunity to try one of the island’s courses, I can guarantee an unforgettable experience.

At Blue Canyon, for example, the golfer can follow the footsteps of Tiger Woods when he

won the Johnnie Walker Classic in 1998. Blue Canyon is ranked as the island’s

best course and also the most expensive course to play.

The green fee may vary de-pending on the season.

A golfing vacation on Phuket with championship courses,

picturesque beaches, excur-sions, gourmet restaurants,

great nightlife, and the unsur-passed Thai hospitality combined

with the sun and sea make Phuket a golfer’s dream destination.

The legendary Blue Canyon Country Club offers 2 award-winning 18 hole championship golf courses which are ranked as the most prestigious golf courses in the region. Blue Canyon with the Andaman Sea and Phang Nga Mountains as a beautiful majestic background, you can enjoy great golf time on the Canyon course or the equally stunning Lakes course. The architect  developed the site around existing canyons and woodlands, with small disruption to the natural landscape and wildlife. It really are a spectacular master-piece of design with taunting water features showcased by towering tree’s all around. One have-to-play-course when visiting Phuket.

On Loch Palm front nine you have to focus keeping the golf ball on dry land. Many holes are played along-side the lake which often skerry across the gently undulating fairways. The short 2nd hole is played around water and will test yours nerves. The last 9 holes has some tighter and more undulating holes, starting with the short but testing downhill par-4 10th. The 11th hole, par-,5 is also tight and challenging with villas flanking on the left side (be ready to warn with Fore). In the back nine holes you will find one of the best par-3 (14th) played downhill to the green which are surrounded by water.

Clubs/shoes to rent Yes, 1 500/200Thb.Length 18 holes par 72 (7015 yards)Course designer Jack Nicklaus 2004

Jack Nicklaus has designed some distinguishing features at Mission Hills Phuket. The top holes includes the 2nd hole (par-5) and will require two well-placed shots to approach the island green with your third shot. The 4th (par 3) is the first of the ocean holes and comes with a spectacular view across the ocean. But there is a price to pay for the views, as water comes in to play on seven holes and the prevailing sea breezes causing play at some time of the day more than tricky.

The first championship standard 18-hole golf course that was built on Phuket. Located almost in the center of Phuket makes the course easy to reach. The Old Course is best described as a friendly resort golf course. If you are high handicapper you do not have your best day to score well, while low handicap golfers will find the course quite a challenge. The course is set in a valley, meandering through hills and limestone cliffs. 6 holes goes trough undulating hills, 6 holes more flat and 6 holes through forest landscape.

Five sets of tees makes the Lakes course suitable for all golfers. The holes meander between streams and water-filled canyons created by abandoned open pit tin mining of natural land flow left relatively unchanged from the original jungle contours.
