Whilst going au naturel is great most of the time, we still like to have a few essential items in our make-up bags that are beach-

proof. Seriously, who would even think of travelling to sunnier shores without a waterproof mascara? With this in mind, we’ve taken it upon

ourselves to source the best beach make-up out there and this is what we’ve come up with. We’ll say sorry to your bank account now,

because these are items you just can’t go without.

BEACH MAKE-UP

No make-up bag is complete without a good nail polish, and seeing as we’ve been inspired by the azure seas of Aruba, we couldn’t resist this baby blue shade from Nailberry. A colour that’ll stand out when you’re kicking back on white sandy beaches and in chic bars and spas, Nailberry’s L’Oxygene is also free from harmful chemicals and purports to actually be good for those talons. Bye bye dry nails, hello nourished and sun-kissed finger tips. Shop the look…£14.50 from Nailberry

Having a tan doesn’t mean you should let up on the make-up application, especially when you’re getting ready for a night out somewhere as exclusive as Aruba. Yes, you can pack away your heavy duty face paint for a while, but be sure to even out that skin tone with a friendly and brightening BB cream. One of the best out there at the moment has to be Vita Liberata’s Capture the Light range. It’s a product that works to enhance the sun-blushed completion you’ve worked hard for, delivering a bronzed and glowing finish every single time. Shop the look…£29.95 from Vita Liberata

No one wants to return to their sunbathing spot looking like a sad panda after a splash in the Caribbean Sea, so make sure you’re prepared with a good waterproof mascara. We’ve tried and tested plenty, but DiorShow’s Blackout Waterproof Mascara is an all-time favourite of ours. No matter how many times you fall off of that paddle board or your attempt to slide into the sea gracefully fails and you end up being knocked over by a wave, you’ll still break the surface with your mascara firmly intact. A staple for any beach make-up bag. Shop the look… £24.50 from John Lewis

To see a difference, you really need to be exercising at least 3 times a week. Even if you’re not a member of a gym, look out for local classes in Yoga, Circuits, Box Fit and Step. It might seem daunting at first but everyone else is also a sweaty mess

and you’ll soon be addicted. Alternatively, if you’d rather exercise alone – there are plenty of online workouts can be done in the comfort of your own home, and if you really push hard for results, it HURTS…

Tip 1 – We know you’ve heard it before, but drinking lots of water is essential for your general well-being. Aim for 2 litres a day. To make it easier, bring in a large bottle of water to work and try to make sure you drink enough so that it requires at least 2 re-fills.

Tip 2 – If you’re craving sugar, always go for the natural kind. Some of our favourite fruits are strawberries and blueberries. Aside from being members of the super foods group, they taste AMAZING.

Tip 3 – Head for the white meats. Here at Beach HQ we couldn’t live without our daily dose of fish or chicken, and they provide a great base to build a satisfying dinner from. Grilled chicken or fish served with a colourful salad or a big serving of veg always does the trick.

Tip 4 – Snack throughout the day.If you starve yourself you’re more likely to make bad choices later on. We’ve all been there, a few celery sticks for lunch and by 8pm we’re ordering a takeaway. A handful of almonds or some carrot sticks and hummus are examples of good, healthy choices that’ll keep you satisfied till dinner time.
