8. Report:-

Purpose

The survey was carried out to cover claims on the eastward extention of Falconbridge Mine. It was intended to discover any unknown sulphide bodies within the limits of the claims surveyed.

Location of Base Control Point

The base control point is situated at station marked 0*00 on the bape line. The base rending is 700 gamma and the absolute value for vertical intensity is approximately 57,600 gamma.Summary

The routh western section of the area contains a sheared contact between the norite and greenstone. This is the same break that extends through the Falconbridge Mine.

The surveys traced two large diabase dikes extending NW-SE through the area. The norite sill overlies older sediments and flows which have been intruded by gabbros.

There are displacements along the diabase dikes and the dikes have been faulted in at least one location.

f 2. }l: \ r*-, iii Location il; ————————————

The claims are located in Falconbridge Township, Con. IV and V, ii: Lots 4,5,6, 4.7. They are aooessable by road via Garson and Skead jl highways. ;-i' '

l General Geology, IPji. ^••.^••••••^•••••••••••••""^PBBBB^****

l The following geological formations are found in the area:

i Keweenawan Olivine Diabasel Noritel ' Huronian Quartz Gabbroi- - -ait;.

f Bruce Seriesi Quartzitel Conglomeratel Rhyolitel Breccial Older Gabbrol Amphibolitel older Sediments ll The east half of the area is composed principally of Quartzite

and Breccia. The west half includes the norite contact with greenstones ' intruded by gabbros and amphibolites. There are two bands of breccia ; extending NE-SW and a 1/4 of a mile from the contact.

Two large diabase dikes extend NW-SE and out all formations. The breccia in the west half is displaced along strike. In the central portion the south dike is displaced near a low swampy area.

In the southeast sector there is a prominent shear zone along the contact of the norite. This shearing disappears into a swamp. It was not picked up on the east side.

l Interpretati onThe contact shear zone has a high anomaly with an intensity

and width that would indicate sulphides containing pyrrhotite. The diabase dikes are sharply defined by long regular anomalies. There are irregular highes over the gabbros* For the most part the sediments have low even values. The isolated highs are of low intensity and are probably caused by formational magnetite.

ConclusionBoth surveys failed to uncover or infer any location for

sulphides east of the contact shear zone,
