marketplace, food and drink demos, Parisian cuisine, roaming busker entertainment and more!

Storm the BastilleThe newly sponsored Associated Bank Storm the Bastille 5K run/walk will return to the streets of downtown Milwaukee for its 33rd year on Thursday, July 13 at 9 pm. Commemorating the revolutionary storming of the Bastille prison by Parisians in the 18th century, the nighttime fun run will start at the corner of Jefferson and Wells streets and lead 5,000+ participants through downtown Milwaukee and the Historic Third Ward. Advance registration is $20 at bastilledaysfestival.com or $25 day of event.For safety reasons, animals, strollers and bicycles are prohibited from the race. Runners are reminded that times will not be recorded.

The Big Easy Comes To TownBack by popular demand, three Mardi Gras-themed parades led by the Extra Crispy Brass Band will march down Kilbourn Avenue on Friday evening at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 pm. Catch tokens good for free beer and 2-for-1 specials, as well as beads and other goodies. Plus, enjoy discounted beer and wine beforehand during the Festival’s happy hour from 5 to 7 pm.
It’s Cake O’ Clock Somewhere!Free slices of a French-themed cake will be available for the first 1,000 guests who march into Bastille Days at noon on Thursday, July 13, courtesy of Metro Market. Slicing will take place in Cathedral Square Park.
French MassGather together for classic French hymns and verses. A French-speaking priest will lead Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist at 5:15 pm on Saturday, July 15.

Bon Appétit! Chef, Beer, Wine & Spirits DemosLearn the latest tips and tricks to spice up mealtime during the Festival’s daily, expert-led cooking and drink demos at the Madison Medical Affiliates Beaux Arts Stage. The city’s top chefs, brewers and sommeliers will dish out French and Cajun samples following their demos.
Time to WineSip and sample world-class wine during three sommelier-led wine tastings on Friday, July 14 at 8:30 pm and Saturday, July 15 at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm. Each attendee will receive eight tasting tickets, good for 2 oz. pours. Tickets are $35 at the Festival or $25 in advance at bastilledaysfestival.com.
Parisian Fun Around Every CornerFrom cancan dancers, chalk artists and jugglers to belly-dancing gypsies, acrobats and French caricatures, there will be nonstop roaming entertainment all weekend long.

Kids DayFree, family-friendly activities will be offered Saturday, July 15 from 10 am to 3 pm. Highlights include ballet stretching and posing, mini French lessons courtesy of the Alliance Française de Milwaukee, high-energy performances by Milwaukee Flyers, Boxman Contortions, magic tricks, caricature artists, extreme juggling and balancing acts, art activities and other hands-on games. Plus, a French-inspired breakfast will be available in the morning from 10 am to 12 pm.
Spills and Thrills at the Waiter/Waitress Race
Tackling an intricate obstacle course while balancing full wine glasses is no easy feat. Cheer for local bars and restaurants as they go head-to-head for bragging rights during the annual Waiter/Waitress Race beginning at 3 pm on Sunday, July 16.
Ceremonial Firkin Tapping
Milwaukee Brewing Co. and Bastille Days sponsor Beechwood Distributors will unveil a new brew with a nod to French ingredients at 5:30 pm on the Madison Medical Affiliates Beaux Arts Stage. The ceremonial tapping will offer an up-close look at the brew’s firkin keg, plus an informative demo detailing the careful steps in production. Fresh samples will be poured for of-age spectators.
