Brain Mapping Project
Brain Mapping by Integrated Neurotechnologies for Disease Studies(supported by MEXT and AMED, Japan ) started in FY 2014.
• (i) Fundamental research with international collaboration;
• (ii) Global programs for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of brain disorders;
• (iii) Theoretical modeling of the brain and the development of brain-based artificial intelligence;
• (iv) Integration of neuroscience with the social and behavioral sciences to improve education and life management as components of a brain-aware society.

国際連携が話し合われた会議への参加実績
平成26年9月開催(岡野参加、発表)「Human Brain Project Summit 」於:ドイツ Heidelberg米国、欧州、日本、豪州のBrain Mapping Projectの概要がGlobal Brain Projectのセッションで紹介され、国際連携をどのように推進するかについて議論した。岡野は日本代表として発表。
平成28年5月開催(岡野参加、発表)「Keystone Symposium: State of the Brain」於:オーストリア Alpbach米国、欧州、中国、日本のBrain Mapping Projectの概要がGlobal Brain Projectのセッションで紹介され、国際連携をどのように推進するかについて議論した。岡野は日本代表として発表。概要はNature Neuroscience誌に発表。
平成28年5月開催(岡野参加、発表)「Brain Forum」於:スイス Lausanne 米国、欧州、中国、日本のBrain Mapping Projectの概要がGlobal Brain Projectのセッションで紹介された。
平成28年9月開催(下郡参加、発表)「Mammalian Brain Cell Diversity and Census Meeting」 於:アメリカ、Cold Spring HarborBrain Initiativeに参加している研究者が中心に参加。神経細胞のdiversity を明らかにしていくためにSingle cell Seqの種間比較の重要性が話し合われた。
平成28年9月開催(岡部、下郡参加、発表)「Coordinating Global Brain Projects」於:アメリカ、Rockefeller UniversityInternational Brain Station(IBS:国際ブレインステーション(仮称))の構築が 提案され、日本を初め各国が参加を表明。
平成28年9月開催(岡野参加、発表)「DECODE Summit: Translating Neural Circuits Research into Transformative CNS Therapeutics」於:米国パロアルト米国Brain Initiative研究者の中でも機能マッピングに携る研究者にまじって、革新脳の進捗を発表
平成28年11月開催(岡部、岡野、山森、入来、下郡参加)「Comparative Principles of Brain Architecture and Functions 」 於:米国サンディエゴAMEDと米国NSF (National Science Foundation)のBrain Mappingに関する合同ワークショップにおいて、日米共同について議論
平成28年12月開催(岡野参加、発表)「3rd Annual Brain Initiative」於:米国ワシントンDC米国NIHが主催し、Brain Initiativeに参加している研究者たちの年次報告会議に参加し、米国、欧州、韓国、日本のBrain Mapping Projectの概要がGlobal Brain Projectのセッションで発表された。米国Brain Initiativeの様々な研究者たちと効率良く共同研究の打ち合わせを行った。

アメリカ、ヨーロッパは霊長類の研究が難しい革新脳の最大の特徴である、マーモセット研究を軸にデータを共有し、国際連携を進める(その際、マカクの遺伝子改変中国が最大のライバル)

今後の重要課題:中核拠点だけでは、機能マップの内、以下の点に
ついては人材が乏しく、十分な対応が出来ない
①系シナプス的に特定の神経細胞をablationすることにより神経回路と行動との因果関係の証明
②MRI(拡散強調画像法)による神経回路のマクロスコピックな
構造マッピングのデータ、トレーサー注入法による神経回路のメゾスコピックな構造マッピングのデータ、さらにこれらと機能マッピング情報を統合し、脳機能をシュミレーションするための計算技術開発
③疾患モデル解析のニーズに基づくPETイメージングの多様化と新規プローブの開発
④遺伝子発現と古典的な組織学の双方に基盤をおいたマーモセット脳におけるcelltyping
